Recent "RnB"
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:19:12 PM »
When I have to listen to the radio at work all I hear is stuff that sounds like a retarded Eurodance revival. Yesterday they played a song with a 90's dance beat (which was cool in the 90's and for a dance track) and Harry Belafonte's "day light come and we (don't) wanna go home" or something along the lines mashed together. Is this how every mainstream RnB track in the US sounds nowadays???

I miss New Jack Swing! ;D

This is the more recent R&B (late 2010 till now) that I'm listening to, lots of nice old skool samples and beats used in a couple of songs:

Avant - Had Enough
Black Buddafly - Rain All Night
Brandy - So Cold (prod. Timbaland)
Brooke Valentine - Tell Ya Boys Goodnight (JD's In My Bed remix beat never gets tired)
Chris Brown Talk Ya Ear Off (prod. Timbaland)
Chris Brown (feat Aleise) - She Ain't You (Remix)
Christina Aguilera (feat Cee Lo Green) - Nasty
CJ Hilton (feat Nas) - So Fresh
C-Note - Motions
Diddy Dirty Money (feat Krayzie Bone) - Last Night Pt. 2 (Remix)
Dondria (feat Johnta Austin & Diamond) - Shawty Wus Up
Dru Hill - Do It Again
Ginuwine - One Night Only
Jagged Edge - My Baby
Jagged Edge (feat Rick Ross) - Lipstick
James Bellamy - I Love Me Some You
Jazmine Sullivan (feat Mary J Blige & Swizz Beatz) - Holding You Down (Remix) (love how the Deep Cover bassline comes in)
Johnta Austin - Just The Way You Are
Johnta Austin - Take My Love
Kevin Cossom - All I Wanna Do
Kevin Cossom (feat Fabolous & Diddy) - Baby I Like It (Club banger)
Keyshia Cole - Take Me Away
Keyshia Cole (feat Nicki Minaj) - I Ain't Thru
K'la - All Your Love
Mario Winans - Heartbreaker
Mary J Blige (feat Lil Wayne & Diddy) - Someone To Love Me (Naked Remix) (track was also on the Dirty Money album but without Mary and Wayne)
Miguel (feat JD & Da Brat) - Sure Thing (So So Def Remix) (that beat and JD and Da Brat rapping together again  8))
Mya (feat Trae Tha Truth) - Full Service
Olivia - All Or Nothing
Range - Just Wanna Love You (I could see this being a worldwide number 1 hit)
Range (feat Fabolous) - Oh Shawty (prod. Ryan Leslie)
Range (feat Wale) - Beautiful You Are
Razah - Sexy Strut
RL (of Next) - In The Club Like
T-Boz - Can It Be Love (love this song, T-Boz still has it)
Teairra Mari - Make Love

But yeah for some strange reason unfortunately, US R&B has been heavily influenced by European (old school) dance music for the last couple of years.

My favourite period of R&B is still 1997 - 2000. Lots of JD, Timbaland, Darkchild and She'kspere (WTF happened to this guy?) productions.

Edit: made some additions plus added a DL link for those interested:

Thanks for the list, I'll check it out too. When it comes to R'n'b i'm an extremely outdated guy. The Euro-dance revival is crazy. Never understood how they could draw their inspiration from shitty euro-dance music like Eiffel 65, O-Zone etc.

Yeah I know what you mean but I live there so imagine having to hear all that shit in the 90s and now once again because of the current state of most R&B and Hip Hop.
