Kendrick Lamar To Debut "Swimming Pools (Drank)" This Week - By : Rud - July 31, 2012



Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre - who premiered The Recipe produced by Scoop DeVille via Big Boy's Neighborhood on Power 106 in April - were set to unleash the video from Kendrick' major label debut via Aftermath/Interscope/TDE on July 10th.

The date came and went without the release - in the intervening days Kendrick did stop by Power 106 to announce the official release date for his highly anticipated major label debut "Good Kid In A Mad City" as October 2nd as well as dropping his and Dr. Dre's Live Coachella 2012 Performance Video as well as a brand new record Swimming Pools (Drank) produced by T-Minus and mixed by Ali & Dr. Dre.

The Swimming Pools (Drank) record - initially a buzz track - has gathered huge international interest, including being featured in the UK on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra and word is via the folks at AHH that a video has since been shot for the cut that will debut this Friday August 3rd on BET's 106 & Park.

i don't think the dre/interscope connection wants him to drop the album this year. they want to delay it indefinitely to 'work on it some more', as always. so it may drop without their support or not at all...

I've been around this forum from the early days when someone who claimed to be from the Aftermath camp used to post updates on the Rakim album and Dr. Dre session, etc........ 

To each there own, Aftermath and Interescope can push anybody they choose to.     

Its a known fact, and I believe Stat Quo said it.... when you first get sign and the buzz is there, you need to put out something right away to keep that buzz going while the hammer is HOT, over time..that buzz starts to fade, and now we are waiting too long and wont someone else to blow or something new to jump off.


Lamar was talented before his Dr. Dre Co-Sign, and he will be talented after, but his time is fading with this first delay.  Its the Summer time, perfect time to drop some hot songs and burn the summer up........  I guess The Math  The Scope missed that memo.......

Yes I know K dot has been around for a long time and he is wildly popular with all the TDE hipsters.
