Rakim was never a deeply personal rapper either. Does that mean he's not a great? What about Cube? Big?

Nobody was thaaaat deep outside of Pac. Hence why Brian only listens to four artists. But Snoop Dogg is deep because he vividly paints a picture of hitting a bitch from the back.

Speaking of Pac beng deep, is it still personal when a lot of it is about a life he didn't lead or experience?

I mean, solid point. I'm almost positive you cannot talk about things that didn't happen in your life, while being "personal" at the same time.

Jay-Z empowering the word BITCH

Go harder than a nigga for a nigga go figure
Told me "keep my own money" if we ever did split up
How can somethin' so gangsta be so pretty in pictures?
With jeans and a blazer and some Louboutin slippers
Uh, Picasso was alive he woulda made her
That's right nigga Mona Lisa can't fade her
I mean Marilyn Monroe, she's quite nice
But why all the pretty icons always all white?
Put some colored girls in the MoMA
Half these broads ain’t got nothing on Willona
Don’t make me bring Thelma in it
Bring Halle, bring Penélope and Salma in it
Back to my Beyoncés
You deserve three stacks, word to Andre
Call Larry Gagosian, you belong in museums
You belong in vintage clothes crushing the whole building
You belong with niggas who used to be known for dope dealing
You too dope for any of those civilians
Now shoo children, stop looking at her tits
Get ya own dog, ya heard? That's my bitch

I'm actually fairly certain that Jay-Z's music is more personal than Pac's. Pac had some real songs like Dear Mama and Life Goes On, but also a lot of these "deep" songs of his were about a life he didn't lead (something he's admitted in interviews). Jay-Z actually did sell drugs and did start out as a street hustler, so the fact that a lot of his music is about hustling, rags to riches is true to life. But the thing is Jay hasn't only been about hustling, he has made his share of introspective tracks. But Infinite doesn't even listen to Jay-Z so he wouldn't know that. He's only heard Jay's singles through the radio.

I dig how they have different visions of hip-hop. Them together is sick.

That's the one track I didn't get. It's not bad. But people were acting like it was going to be some major hit. Beyonce's hook is pretty weak.

I only posted the Em and Pac verses to show the contrast between the supposedly "deep" Jay-Z verse that was posted on the previous page.  Because Jay-Z does attempt to make more meaningful songs from time to time, but it still comes out wack like all his other trash.

...But a rapper doesn't have to be "deep" or "conscious" to be dope.  Braggadocio raps are a staple in hip-hop music.  It would be hard to be a fan of rap and not enjoy that style.  I'm a huge fan of a lot of rappers who use a braggadocio style.  To name a few...

Snoop
Daz
Masta Ace- like the style he used on the I.N.C. album from 95
Royce 5'9"
Kurupt
Redman- he does make fun of himself sometimes, but it's not "deep" or "emo", it's just in fun
Biggie
Jadakiss
...many more

And I could also name a million songs that aren't "deep" or "emo" and shit all over Jay-Z's whole career...

-50 Cent "In The Club"
-Snoop-  "Gin and Juice"
-Masta Ace- "INC Ride"
-Biggie- "One More Chance", "Going Back To Cali", "Big Poppa"
-Xzibit- "X"
-Rakim- "Don't Sweat The Technique"
-Big Daddy Kane-  "Ain't No Half-Steppin"
-Dre- "The Next Episode"
-Daz- "In California"
-Soopafly- "Like It Or Not"

all good examples, and I could think of a thousand more.

I was too immature
to understand your ways, inexperienced back in the days
Caused so many arguments and strays
Now I realize how to treat ya, the secret to keep ya
Bein faithful now cause now cheatin's lethal
We closer than the hands of time, deeper than the drop of mankind
I trust you dearly, I shoot blind
In time I clock figures, droppin niggaz as we rise
We all soldiers in God's eyes -- now it's time for war
Never leave me baby, I'm paranoid, sleepin witcha
loaded by my bedside crazy
Jealous when you hang wit the fellas, I wait patiently alone
anticipated for the moment you come home
I'm waitin by the phone this is true love, I can feel it
I've had a lot of women in my bed, but you the realeast
So if you ever need me call, I'll be there through it all
You're the reason I can stand tall, me and my girlfriend

You think Daz & Snoop are better rappers than Jay-Z?

Daz 1992-1998 shits all over Jay Z's whole catalog

...and Jay doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Snoop.  Not then and not now.

Like, you understand what you're saying to Jay's verse with what you just did there?

You brought up a classic Pac verse, off a classic Pac song, off a classic Pac album, when Pac was in his prime to go against a 42 year old, past prime, tight Jay verse.
