--QUESTION FOR PEOPLE WITH DSL/CABLE CONNECTIONS--
« on: September 14, 2002, 12:45:04 AM »
Yo can you please tell me the following things:

1. What country you live in
2. How much your connection is
3. And what is the download limit.

Coz here in Australia i rang around to get a fast connection and its a fucking rip off:

Its $150 just to install the modem, and then $130 per month just for the connection. On top of that it would cost $0.12 - $0.18 cents per MB of download.

I calculated my expected use and it turns out i would overall be expecting a bill of around $1000 per month.

I know this cannot be so expensive everywhere? How much do ya pay in other countries?

P.S All the figures above are in Australian dollars. US ppl just half them and UK ppl divide them by three to get your currency equivalent.

damn Australia has some problems....how can that shit be so expensive...i got an anual contract with directvdsl so i got the first 6 months at 40 dollars and the second 6 months at 50 dollars which comes out to be 45 dollars a month........and i got 1.5 meg download but a 128k upload so the upload is kinda slow but not too bad ....its worth every penny to me.  with that plan i got the modem free and i hooked it up my self its easy and the shipping was free too so all i had to pay was 40 the first month and no activation fee either..in other words i just pay 40 my first 6 months and 50 my next 6 months

dats crazy.

do u have any download limit?

Australia is behind American in technology and costs of technology. I suspect that about 2yrs from now we will have cable/dsl prices that you have currently.

You know, we get charged around $US18 per month just for the 56k connection.

Norway here youngin'

I pay U.S. $50 each month, and then I can DL as much as I want.
DL Speed: 1024 KB
UL speed: 584 KB

Considering that I DL gigs every month, I think it's a pretty nice deal.

i am so fucking jealous of all of you  >:( >:( >:(

does anyone know this:

You know how I'm in Aus and I can purchase almost anything on the internet from another country, like CD's, Appliances etc etc.

Can I purchase an internet connection for my house in Australia FROM a company overseas? i might look into that, but if anyone knows already just holla.

Cali

DL 1500
UL 128

$50 US dollars a month, no download limit.

Of course those download numbers are theoretical, i've never downloaded faster than 300 kbs.

I live in Charlotte, NC, America, and mine's 40.00 a month (cable) (if you have television cable), and I don't know my limit, but I've downloaded stuff at over 500K a second before.  Peace~
