After a day of sales, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV projects to have one of the highest first-week sales of any album this year.

According to Billboard, the long-awaited album, which was released after the MTV Video Music Awards at 12:00 AM, is on pace to sell 850,000 to 900.000 units.

The album will almost certainly take the No. 1 spot, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers' I'm With You likely coming in second with 175,000 to 200,000.

Wayne's latest, if the projections hold true, will have the highest first-week sales for a Hip Hop album since Tha Carter III, which sold 1.01 million in its first week in 2008.

Carter IV will be Wayne's third No. 1 album.

Wtf? That's crazy I didn't even hear much of a buzz for this album. Carter 3 was all people were talking about, I assumed people were finally over him after those 2 wack albums and Drake's takeover at YM.

Ahh well props I guess.

"How To Love" is a significantly smaller single than "Lollipop".

^^^^ why not ? .. Numbers seem very high when you take into consideration the buzz around this album (which isn't nearly as important as the one around Carter III)  ... this one wont sell 3.5 millions like the Carter III

wayne's fan base has been growing since Carter III.....when Carter III came out, this was just when White people (or in more politically correct terms, people outside the urban population or outside the population listening to urban music) started to pay attention to him.....now, this guy is known by EVERYONE, and i mean fuckin everyone, from teachers to politicians, and most of that is from his image, not his singles........so yeah, im not surprised at the sales, most people are probably buying the album out of curiosity just to see what kind of crazy shit he will say, single or no single......

Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" Breaks Jay-Z & Kanye West's First Week iTunes Sales Record

Just a few weeks after Jay-Z and Kanye West broke the first week sales record for iTunes with Watch the Throne, Lil Wayne accomplished the same feat with his latest album Tha Carter IV in just four days.

According to HHNM, Weezy has sold more than 300,000 copies of his latest offering since it hit the web on early Monday at midnight. In its first week, TC4 is now expected to move between 925,000 and 975,000 copies, whereas earlier estimates put the album between 850,000 and 900,000 units.

How can they estimate how many copies will be sold?

They assume that 600,000 more people are just going to go out & buy it? Somebody from the label has to be buying these & then that's what the label says it'll likely sell.

nann that label idea is bullshit..

i mean baby went out n bought gang of khaleds and ace hood album..they still goin wood...

wayne has the entire southern market on lock..he can get a 700,000 albums sold in the south alone

from the block is hot to the 1st carter..the south held him down..with platinum and gold..

when he crossed over..added more fuel to his fire..

if the label was buyin records...baby would still have a gold n platinum album streak...but he dont...

What's with the hating?

You dudes hating on this dude make me laugh....

Dude has gritty shit with Jadakiss, a song with NAs and busta rhymes
Has more mainstream stuff with drake
Songs for girls like how to love ( which by the way dude said he always loved rock,( nirvana) so hes doing what he likes to do)

The album has great beats, great production, good features.

Carter 3 was  4.5/5 for me
Carter for is looking like a 4/5

The song with John Legend So special to me is a classic, perfect production.
