G-Funk is alright but in that retro-stylee more than anything. There needs to be progression, you know I love the golden years stuff, but I don't want to hear a whole bunch of artists coming out and just ripping them off, because they ain't going to be the same thing. A bit of G-funk goes good though yeah, and the stuff in France is making it slightly fresh again.

Agreed.

There are artists that have progressed the sound a little. Soopafly comes to mind

Have any of you guys listened to Dom Kennedy's latest album "From The Westside With Love 2"? The whole album has a 90's g-funk vibe. Me and my production team The Chromatix produced "Money Don't Stop" ().

This is really smooth.

Nice work.  8)

G-Funk and Mobb Music are out of fashion and it's a shame because production-wise that type of rap was really advanced. i'm hoping another style of rap which incorporated groovy and old school funk elements soon emerges. that's why I love Southern producers like Jazze Pha, Pimp C, T-Mix, Mike Dean or Mo B. Dick. but if you're really looking for rap music with G-Funkish beats with or without a modern twist there still are out there artists, even mainstream that do it, even occasionally.

as far as French artists, since most people here don't understand french I don't think foreign G-Funk is really appealing to english speaking listeners. I think you'd be better off listening to French electro since the lyrics are in english most of the time and the music can be really groovy and sound like G-Funk

Crunk Juice had some pretty solid non-Southern cuts to it. Lovers and Friends was another. Too bad Lil Jon's on both of them.

g-funk not made nemore..

kuz the new producers can make 10000beats in the amount of time it would take a warren g, pimp c, organize noize or quik.. to crate dig for the perfect sample and create..

producers r lazy as hell...everybody sound the same...g-funk era.. yeah they might have sampled the same songs... but it always sounded different..

still trip out now..when i listen to ugk's protect n serve....i always go pop in wc's soldier story...... 8)
