Your Favorite Jay-Z Track
« on: October 10, 2011, 04:17:41 AM »
The recent Jay-Z singles-thread got me thinking there are some tracks he didn't release as singles.
What's your favorite song from the Jiggaman? Any songs really, feature, own songs, but post a link to it so people can listen.

Might be hard to choose, and I can't really decide what's mine.

Ain't No Love (In the Heart of the City) ('01), taken from The Blueprint, produced by Kanye West
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/QePjIIBI-sI" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/QePjIIBI-sI</a>
The beat and the sample is just amazing, loving it and it's a very very great song in my opinion; however, Jigga could've written something better to this instrumental.

Meet the Parents ('02), taken from The Blueprint 2: The Curse, produced by Just Blaze
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/KQ5A2aKmZhI" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/KQ5A2aKmZhI</a>
It's a fantastic track in my opinion; great story telling, a tight beat from Blaze however it lacks something but I can't really tell what.

Only two Jay-Z songs I ever liked.  The rest are all garbage.  Even "Renegades" Royce and Em served him a street hit, and he ruined it.

Only good Jay-Z tracks are...

"Can't Knock The Hustle" with Mary J.   - this is a good song, because it came out during the height of hip-hop's golden age in the mid-90's.  So just about anything from that time period is dope.  Mary J. comes tight on the hook, and Jay does his best not to fuck up the track with his bullshit lyrics.

"Black Republican"-  with Nas.  - this is a rare case where Jay-Z actually enhanced the quality of a song.  The beat was already a banger, and Nas comes tight as usual (although nothing spectacular), yet Jay took the record to the next level.  He spit about his relationship with Nas, them being enemies then joining forces, had some dope quotables, lines like "Brings the coin to a head/cha-ching".

Hah crazy I was gonna go with those two along side "D'evils", Jay is a great story teller, meet the parents is crazy dope. The Dynasty Intro is straight as well, possibly 1 of the best album intros ever made.

Some great tracks mentioned in here guys. D'Evils, U Don't Know, Never Change are all classics. I like Song Cry too, fantastic song.

Inifinite is still trolling I see
And why GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS mentioned in this thread? Probably the worst song Jay has, and that's not a matter of opinion, that's cold fact.

DOYS is great too.

Yeah, well I said probably - his worst track is another discussion, but that track sure doesn't belong in here lol.

I'm pretty fond of Star Is Born & Off That too (mostly because of Cole and Drizzy though)...
