*Rappers having to maintain some hard-core gangster image
*People who listen to hip hop are considered juveniles or wiggers
*People listening to hip hop taking it too far and making it some sort of culture
*The rappers who don't change their old washed up style
*The fans who aren't willing to go along with their favorite artist's new style
*A lot of the beats sound the same
*A lot of the raps sound the same
*Too many album delays
*Relies too much on mixtapes for buzz
*Jacks the style of whatever's popular
*Too many complains about today's generation
*Not enough complaints about the yester generation
*Too many songs about money and women
*Spends too much money on shit they don't need (big ass chains, gold grills, cars, prostitutes and a whole lot of alcohol)
*Too many guest features on one album or one song
*Too focused on their image
*Delusional people that think listening to gangster rap makes them gangster
Just to list a few...

[I don't like people complaining about how hip-hop was better in the 80's and 90's. There is more shit, but more good music on the other side as well.

You'll never hear that analogue sound again, unless studios go back to using old equipment.

i love it when euros add the extra vowel into words like

analogue , colour, neighbourhood

whats the science behind it? oh yall fancy huh?

i love it when americans have no idea about differences between american and british english...

you failed. better luck next time smartass.

Fans who swear they are engineers, acting like they can't tell what's dope or not by sound quality, yet they started listening to music in the 90's which was the era of bootleg tapes.

hahahah this.

If a skit has a point, like telling a story or introducing a track, then its fine. But there's way too many skits that add nothing to the album.

I don't like how mainstream rap tends to follow a formula moreso than any other music genre. Alex da Kid produces a hit song and all of a sudden everyone else wants a song that sounds exactly like it. I don't listen to too many other genres but rap has to be the most watered down by far. A lot of these rappers rap to be famous and sell records, while I feel other artists are more likely to put out albums for the sake of making music. Lady Gaga (while I think she sucks) is putting out all kinds of weird music. Just because she can. The biggest rappers are too busy copying each other to do something interesting (with the exception of Watch the Throne).

Nah, every genre is the same these days. Sure in every genre you will find experimental artists that go against the grain, that are about the art. But most artists and bands and the labels only care about success. So they follow the formula of what they think will get them big the fastest. That's why you always see hundreds of copycats of anything that's popular. For example, nu-metal with tons of generic bands that sound identical.Or when rap-rock was popular you saw tons of limp bizkit type bands surface. They just want money and the lifestyle they don't care about the music.

No, but a lot of artists are never able to grow because their fan base isn't willing to hear them try anything else.Look at how many people are still stuck on dpg in this forum. A group that haven't been relevant or made good music in over ten years.

1. The fans first and foremost.
- Their concern with "realness".
- Their tendency to take the music too seriously when it should just be a form of entertainment.

2. The ignorance perpetuated by fans and the rappers themselves.

3. The lack of evolution in the thoughts and ideas behind the music. On the production front, most of the new shit out is over produced tot he point where the replay value is not there.

Should i go on?

I think its an issue of creativity. Sometimes an artist is trying something new, and sometimes they are going along with established trends. I'm not willing to go along with Ice Cube trying to be crunk.

1. Mainstream rappers with garbage content n lyrics that blow up because the mass of hip hop fans follow whatever everybody else likes.

2. Old rappers that try to change their styles to fit in with new cats because they realize the mass of hip hop fans follow whatever everybody else likes which eventually alienates their original true fanbase.

3. Fake gang rappers that promote gangbangin but dont say shit bout all the bad shit that comes from it like us basically committing genocide against each other over colors we didnt create or streets and neighborhoods we didnt build nor do we own.

4. Subpar rappers that blow up for the simple fact that theyre down with popular mainstream rappers with cultlike fans that love everything said rapper promotes.

5. Young fans that denounce rappers for being old even tho they can still rap and put out quality shit.

And whats with ragging on long albums? I dont like filler either but the answer aint to cut songs off. The answer is to just put 18+ hot songs on an album. You guys had me thinking bout some classics like either one of Redmans first three albums, OB4CL, Warriorz, shit Doggystyle was 19 tracks. Niggas dont need to make less songs they just need more good ones.
Sometimes I need reminders why I bother to rap
Then I think back to cats who only father is rap
I dead beats, but you niggas is Lou
Im Uncle Phil gotta give em somethin real
cause If I dont who will

I'll take a tight cohesive 10-12 track album any day of the week over a 18+ track album.

What about a cohesive 18 track album tho Jay? Look at Doggystyle aint no bad song on it so how is gettin less hot shit better than more?
