ur an idiot...how can u even dare say that freeway the fake ghostface is anywhere close to what ice cube is/was?....or this 50 cent foot soldier lloyd banks is anything close to rakim?...ur a scumbag

lol at you thinking old ice cube gonna bring more heat than fresh freeway. have you heard freeway recently? please, ice cube is a good man but c'mon man, listen to some freeway shit but this time without the hate in your blood, clean your soul man, after that have a bath and then wear some clean clothes. get your mind right player.

as for rakim, ever since he been on aftermath i only heard him on the watcher pt 2 and to be honest i was dissapointed. llyoyd banks has had much better verses than that. im still optimistic about rakim but i aint gonna get all exited for it, imma just wait and see.
lmao

this shit ain't even funny

1.listen to all those 4 rappers again

2.come back and..

3.excuse for even comparing 'em --> 4.people will be nice and forget..
or
3.keep on putting those 'fresh' ass Rappers over 'old' legends --> 4.stop listening to Rap n look for another type off music.. rap ain't right for u son

so u judging Rakim cuz of one single track?

well take one random track of all tracks Lloyd Banks' done in 2003 and it wiill NOT be better than Rakim's verse of The Watcher which was definatly good.. just for Rakim The God it was below his standart.. but don't never compare his standart to Banks'

and waht's Cube done in 2003? The Shit.. can't think of mo right now maybe i forgot sumthing but Freeway's standart is never higher than Cube's today either

Damn Diplomats I don't what you're smoking on but can you get me some cause it seems to be a very strong mind altering substance.

I'm sorry but comparing Lloyd Banks, some pussy ass ROC rapper to the lyrical GOD that is Rakim is pure stupidity. Damn, even though Rakim had two verses last year on the Truth Hurts joint and the Watcher Part 2, in those two average by Rakim standard verses he eclipsed Lloyd Banks whole career.

Freeway just gets fucking annoying after a while and the only joint I actually like of his is Night Shift. On the other hand Ice Cube had an extremely dope verse on Westside Connection - Holidaze and even in 2003 is still absolutely light years ahead of mega beard.

And finally, you said that you weren't really feeling MOP. Damn, MOP are probably the best artists on the ROC right now, along with Twista, so to say that they aren't good is plain stupidity.

Other than Rakim and Ice Cube Aftermath/Shady won't release any more classics or near classics this year, although Proofs album will probably be pretty good.

But, I can tell you right now that the battle won't be between these two labels, cause I have a sneaky feeling that the Gang Starr album and the NYG'z joint on DJ Premier's label will probably eclipse most of these albums, and Rawkus have got The Last Emperor's album coming alongside possibly the second Black Star Album and Mos Def's Black Jack Johnson project.

But overall 2003 looks like being a pretty good year.

To be honest, Lloyd Banks verse on "Don't push me" was better than Rakim's on "TW2"..

But that says nothing about their careers..
Rakim is a respected VET and a LEGEND..
Banks is a ROOKIE, and even Banks will tell you that..
He knows that Rakim is THE DON compared to himself..

Banks is not a wack ROC rapper, but a dope talent from 50's squad, and for so long he's staying just that.. a talent.
Other than that I agree with everything else in Waitin For The DJ's post..
Let's wait 'til Banks has a few albums under him, and then judge..

It really fuckin aggrovates me when people hear these new kats bust a quick verse, then think they Gods.  When 50 started blowin up, heads at my school were sayin he was TWICE as good as Eminem...just from hearin Wanksta and Places to Go.  That is plain and simple DICK-RIDING at it's best...

I'm a huge fan of Roc-A-Fella, so I definitely prefer them to Shady/Aftermath, that's not to say that the latter is "worse" though, I just prefer Roc-A-Fella's artists more. There's so many ill MCs at the ROC it's not even funny - MOP, Jay-Z, Twista, Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Cam'ron etc. - I like music from both camps, but I'd pick Rocafella over Shady/Aftermath anyday.

Peace

Lloyd Banks on the ROC ??? ??? ???

rakim had the worst verse on 'the watcher part 2' and the one with truth hurts wasnt too hot either,

Lloyd Banks freestyle over the victory beat is better than anything Rakim has put out for many years.

seriously listen to some rakim then come back and talk about hiphop

only people would wait this long for a rakim album rakim would shit all over  them roc rappers wait until he drops and 50 cents album was huge idont think any roc rapper will sell that much this year

there is hope

dont get the hype for rakim. i would understand if he dropped some classic verses since he's been on the aftermath but it hasnt happened. he is a legend but his time has passed.

obie trices new album > rakims new album
