I agree that they really put their all into this album, and this was the last great album we ever heard from Bone, whether as a group or solo.   DJ U-Neek was all over this one and still at the top of his game.   Since this album they've had great songs dispersed throughout their solo and album releases, but this was their last COMPLETE album.  And it was pretty successful I think it sold 2 million.

That being said I don't think it compares to when they were still young and hungry and under the guidance of Eazy, or just after E's passing.  Creep On A Come Up and East1999Eternal will always be considered their two CLASSIC albums.  We can certainly call Art of War dope and near-classic, but it just felt slightly manufactured and not as REAL as their first two Ruthless albums.

One complaint I have of this album was that it sounded more manufactured than their previous cuts.  Like for example, they followed a more traditional format on nearly all the songs, of 16 bars, chorus, 16 bars, chorus, 16 bars, chorus, 16 bars, chorus... with each rapper getting their turn.  I felt like on previous cuts from Bone they harmonized a lot more and it was as if they all conspired together on the track, rather than each rapper waiting their turn.

"Handle The Vibe" and Bizzie's joint "7even Sign", and "Wasteland Warriors" were huge bangers

I still bump that album on the regs. I'm surprised it sold so well (4x platinum by 1998) with only having 2 singles for a double album.

Fk that song, and the album title. We all know who's influence was behind that. I prefer Creep on a Come up being their best work... Always preferred Krazie over Bizzy

kraz1e was the brains behind the choruses and melodies.

Absolutely. I still rate his own double album, great features, and still put it on from time to time. He done a lot of songs for that. I got the chance to hear an additional 20, and they were just as good as the tracks on the album. Really rated him above Bizzy who was my favourite beforehand.

I was talking more about the simple track names 7 Sign and ready 4 war, and title of the album "art of war"

i still remember buyin this album the day it came out.....my aunt took me to sam goody up in the mall and i walked out with the cd happy as a muthafucka, ready 2 show it off 2 my uncles, who were big bone fans at the time. anyways, i loved the album and i still do. it's not their best work, though. like infinite said, their first two albums are certified classics. this one could be a classic as well, but i still rate "E.1999" as their best album.
