Is it hard being a black man in America?
« on: January 17, 2012, 08:39:45 AM »
I´m writing a paper about black immigrants in my country, and here the majority of black people are uneducted, has the highest crime rate, and the general population has a bad view on blacks because of this.

I don´t have alot of knowledge about the situation in America. But if it´s the same as here, is it hard for a black man who tries to make something of himself to be respected by his fellow citizens?

its all what you make of it

if anything, being non white can be exploited for gains (scholarships, college acceptance, etc)

but then again i hold the crazy and radical view that drug usage and constantly being arrested isnt necessarily whiteys fault all the time  :yikes:

These days I would say it's a lot more about what social class you're a part of rather than your race. But then again, I am whitey so what do I know.

I'm not black, but I can imagine the hate towards people trying to better themselves. Your own people being the worst critics.

Still gotta work your ass off for those though.
