People not buying CDs is false. I bought over 200 CDs last year alone. My collection is over 4,000 albums.

Artists across a variety of genres are going platinum. And the majority of those sales are physical, not digital.

why r people still talking bout this shit album its gonna suck end of story till the nest w.a album

People on here don't understand how business works. Wide awake could put out a cd with only 1 or 2 new unheard tracks on it and people will buy it. They're gonna be exploiting that right as long as they have ownership of the catalogue.

"dont understand how business works"
and im sure that u do?
just because nostalgic cd-purists n collectors just like yourself decides to buy a physcial compact disc cuz of  2 or 3 new tracks, doesnt mean the opposition will do the same.
rest of us will downlaod it

People who download music without paying, will do that regardless.

Even more reason for Wideawake to limit the flow of 'unheard' tracks being released, like they are.

For those who don't live out their lives online, this cd will be in stores promoting the brand...and moving units. And collectors and die hard fans worldwide will still get it from eShops etc. And Wideawake still got tracks for days sat in the vault.

i disagree,
people dont buy cd's anymore, therefore limiting the diversity of new music, will only slow down possible sales for new product

a conventional music-customer wold buy this project if it was all new tracks or somethin more fancier, but since the release is an obvious rip-off, only nostaglic cd-purists like urself would buy it (the people who spend money on a release  if there is only one *new* song on it)

it might postpone the catalogue, n give WideAwake somethin more to relaese routinely,, but i dont think its a succesful move thru a revenue-perspective

Well your argument fails first and foremost because people do buy CDs. Especially as Wideawake is a company that specialises in CDs , special/limited editions, DVDs etc etc as their primary product.

no, they dont
collectors buy "cds and vinyl" not "people"
digital outlets and streaming sites (like Spotify) and illegal mp3's are the public domain sources for new
music today, not compact discs (its different depending on which country tho)

WideAwake aims at collectors wit their product, n since the overall content n quality
of the product isnt up to par wit the networth, i dont see any revenue from
a business-standpoint wit their releases. thats how i look at it

2 or 3 new tracks in a lousy compact disc format wit a cheap paper-inlay isn't worth 20$,
not even for a collector, thats why it wont sell n become a huge success IMO

Lol, so collectors aren't people?

Adeles sold 18 million copies of her album. So only collectors buy her album?

of course they are, u know what i mean

dont read into it

some mainstream-acts still sell cds like Lil Wayne, but u cant simplify the argument wit cd-sales, just cause a few of them move units

Your argument is a nonsense.

Cd sales aren't made up of 'collectors' only. Cd sales are still a major part of the industry.

Just because u don't buy CDs doesn't mean people aren't out buying CDs 24/7 or off Amazon etc. :D

its not nonsense at all
the revenue isnt in cd-sales, so  cd-sales are not a huge factor in the industry from a business standpoint, no

collectors and general fanbases buy cd's, not the conventional music-listener.
the compact disc isnt a source for new music today,, the internet is

ive been thru that argument before..
comparing statistics of CD-sales and digital sales doesnt work at all

of course, Cd sales more in comparison wit digital sales, still doesnt prove anythin.. cuz most of teh music listeners download everythin for free
the percentage shows the small number of actual digital sales, and doesnt say antyhin about teh illegal downloads

those numbers make it look like cd-sales are a dominant force, when its not at all in reality

Lol so now you're talking bout illegal download vs all sales.

What's that got to do with it? It's like tryin to market designer goods to shoplifters.

illegal downloads go hand in hand wit the sales of compact discs. its a domino effect.

how can compact discs sell (& remain as an important factor as a source for music in the industry, like u said) when downloads are eatin off the profits?

are u retarded?

I might end up gettingn this.  The vast majority of tracks I've never heard.
