illegal downloads go hand in hand wit the sales of compact discs. its a domino effect.

how can compact discs sell (& remain as an important factor as a source for music in the industry, like u said) when downloads are eatin off the profits?

And I'm askin u again....

WTF has that to do with this new CD from Wideawake, specifically?

What you're talking about now is an industry wide issue. You want me to solve the problems of the industry?

You're not making sense Mike.

Not interested. I hope people from WideAwake are readin' DubCC and they understand that they're fuckin up.
I think that the album sales of their Death Row releases tell them that.

It's funny because we used to clown on Death Row before with how bad their album sales were, though they eclipse the WIDEawake releases by a good margin... and those releases at least had some new stuff (i.e. Dead Man Walkin, Too Gangsta for Radio, Snoop Doggy Dogg Greatest Hits) or a decent mix of released songs and unreleased songs.

Someone else said Doggystyle with G'z Up Hoez Down would be nice, but it's going to take more than one extra song to get sales, especially when the fanbase that actually knows that song probably already has it in some form and likely won't drop another $12 just to have it.  They'd need to put more bonuses on that... the original Next Episode would definitely get my $12, I'd be at Best Buy at 10am right when they open to buy that.

if wide awake somehow managedto re-release Doggystyle with the songs Doggystyle, Gs up hoes down and Next Episode on it i'd buy 5 copies just as a thanks for having Next Episode in CDQ lol

or even if they cant re-release the Dre vocals they can easily use those other 2 songs and maybe Smoke On or something

Re-release the entire back catalouge with a release each month with 1/2 previously unreleased bonus songs from that time period/recording sessions:

May 2012 - Doggystyle (with 1 bonus song)
June 2012 - Above The Rim (with 2 Bonus songs)
July 2012 - Murder was the case (with 2 bonus songs)
August 2012 - Dogg Food (with 1 bonus song)

so on, and so on, until they got up to Chronic 2000.. Take some of the money from these bankable, and proftiable albums that still sell today, and use it to 1) pay back investors, and 2) invest in the future, and put money into making any "New" future releases sound nice, and have better promotion and artist backing

This shitting out bootleg-quality material while the heads are turned away does nothing for the label

I always thought that this would be a logical strategy for them that would keep average hip-hop fans and death row die-hards interested in their products while maximizing profits by milking their back catalog. But I guess that would make too much sense so WA choose to go a different route ::)

To be fair, we the fans are the idiots getting hyped up about this knowing full well what WIDEawake's track record is like. We know who admins their site, we know who gets credits in the releases yet we still expect magic from a company that has been dead for a long, long time.
