IMO, Dre's beyond all that eastcoast/westcoast bullshit.  He doesn't even have that in his mind, he's just making good music, that's why he gets so much respect by eveyone in the music industry.

So why do I keep hearing bullshit about Dre putting the 'Westcoast' back on the map? it's all foolish. Dre is cool as a producer, but should NOT be in the same catergory as some of the 'Westcoast' producers.

Dre didn't just 'hang' with guys from compton.  He lived in compton.  How else could you be 'from compton' ?

I know tons of people say he's gonna put the "westcoast" back on the map.  But does Dre himself ever say he's gonna put the "westcoast" back on the map?  NO.  Just let the man do his thing, you think too much.  Just enjoy the music he's giving us.

did u expect west coast rap never to evolve past the death row sound?

what dre did with the '2001' sound did change the west coast - if he aint west coast why has he contributed his sound to so many west coast rappers since 1999.  even though i havent liked his most recent beats on the 50 Cent album - he is still west coast

and dre was from comtpon, even if he did spend most his time playing atari inside  ;D

Nah, you see G-child, you are very wrong....  to you westcoast music should sound like it use to sound back in the  90's... the sound Dr. Dre created, however, he's changing the game... he's changing the sound of his music, which results in chaning the sound of westcoast music... so dre is still westcoast... he's just changing the game

MAn, Dre ain't dropped a proper track since HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!, let me see, THe Last Meal. And that's if he produced Hennesey and Buddah or was that Fred Wrecks work. Ain't nobody copying Dre's shit because a fuckin 5 year old can make his beats. THey're too simplistic now and sound like a whole lotta base with no fuckin' soul in the damn song. Just a boomp.. boom..boom, boom. So stop saying he's dope cuz' he ain't no good anymore. I've wasted too much $ buying cd's with singles he produced that are probably the worst on the album. For instance:Lookin' At You, Business, In Da Club, Symphony In X Major. He trying to create a new type of music. That takes a muthafucker with a lot of brains and patience. With the work Dre's been doing lately, I don't think he can pull off a Hip-Opera or Ghetto Rock album that sounds as creative as 2001. And if he can, why does he give all his homies shitty beats, but saves his best beats for himself. Stingy. If Quik can bring consistent, CREATIVE,INNOVATIVE(keywords)bangers, than why the fuck can't Dre do the same. Isn't he supposedly, the best rap producer in everybody's eyes? He may be the best to the whole world, but he'll never be innovative and that can end any producer's career. Whether it be Dre, Warren G or Quik. He needs to reinvent himself with a bit more soul in his shit!!!
