yo..

im downloadin windows xp as we speak.just wanted to know what do i do when its download..cos i hav never set up an operationg system up on a pc..like do i double click on the file ive downloaded? what do i open it with..does it install by itself..do i hav to restart..how long does it take?? i need some guidlines y'all..i dont wanna fuck my pc up after 2 months of having it..

Man, I Always Wondered The Same, LOL.  if You Run Into Problems, You Could Always Just Put It On A CD Like It Comes From The Factory, Ya know.  That Might Help If The Regular Install Off The Hard Drive Doesn't Work.

if you have a cd burner, burn the "iso" to a cd .... if not, download isobuster or winiso and extract the files to a directory and install ...

im downloadin it..its just 1 file..its the ISO..so i burn it..put it onto a cd and it shud take it from there when i run it?...

yea this is wht i did, i didn't d/l it tho, jus burned a copy and cracked it

Rite if u run it widin windows, it mite giv u an error message sayin sum dll file is fucked etc ... theres nuthin wrong wid da cd
the prob is, it wont install over the windows ure using or sumthin (if u dont get an error message, ignore this)

So wht i did wuz, formattted the comp, throu dos (make sure u gotta start up disk) and booted from the winXP CD ...

If u get the error message, dont do anything, post a reply sayin u got it ... cuz booting from the cd has to be enabled from the BIOS etc ...

1) Burn the setup on to a cd
2) Run it from windows
thats it ...........

IF HOWEVER YOU GET AN ERROR MESSAGE:
dont worry, theres nuthin wrong with the cd .... u just have to format the hard disk blah blah, i wont confuse u yet, so if u get the error message, then dont go any further, i'll tell u wht to do then

Oh one more thing, BE SURE TO SCAN THE FILE U ARE DOWNLOADING BEFORE RUNNING IT

cuz kazza n all r fulla viruses n trojans ...

and the setup will take approx 45min to 1 hour

Um yeah, Windows ME can be  A BITCH, espically if u keep installin n uninstallin shit, if ure a gamer and a multitasker, and incounter errors n crap, then upgrade...

WinME is good for home, novice users, cuz its user friendly, and umm yea ...

But peeps like me, tweakers/gamers/multitaskers etc ... need the stabilty of Windows NT and Win2k ...AND the gaming and user friendlyness of WinME/Windows 98 SE ...

WinXP is the 'total package' its really stable, ure progs never freeze on it, ure computer will always run smooth AND u dont need to install drivers n shit for new hardware etc, cuz WindowsXP has it all built in ...

So yea windows XP is the best OS MicroSoft has ever released, upgrade if you want to, if you dont wanna take the hassel, and r fine wid ure current OS, chill, no need to upgrade

If ure a 3d gamer n run game slike Quake 3 n need OPEN GL then ure i ndeep shit, open gl is not made for Windows XO just yet ... unless of course u have a gud 3d card, like from 3dfx/nvidea/ati etc, they giv specific open gl drivers so iz koo
