^^ lmao @ u and that song

i know yall arent actually going to let Matty punk yall on this 1 lol smh.  he's not even from North America, let alone the US.  In fact, his only connection to North America is from this site smh.

yo Matty, how about we leave the social commentary of the United States to it's citizens.  I'll take an Anti-Obama socialist over a Global Conspiracy Theorist anyday.  this undermining of Ice Cube and Obama is some kinda joke right?

I'll listn to the song in the morning time when i can crank it up at the highest volume for the entire world to hear but i know yall arent going to let some European Conspiracy Expert dictate this thread lol, foh.  There's so many holes in their arguements already its hard to say where to start.

just the one response, sorry guys

cube isn't even giving obama props on this like some people on this board. but the fact he's the 'leader' and not being explicitly critisized makes the message way too ambiguous. the most political potent message any black rapper could make in 2012 is to directly call out obama. the propaganda runs strong indeed. didn't he orginally campaign on stopping lobbying in washington or something?

and about being able to comment on the US...there's the small matter of a globalised financial system and the US$ as reserve currency. if that doesn't directly effect everyone on the planet i don't know that does. most people benefit from it, but thanks to bad management and corruption over several decades it's about to have it's day. definitely past the point of no return now.

if saying that both major US parties and the financial system is corrupt is still a conspiracy theory i don't know what to say. saying that shapeshifting extradimensional lizards are ruling the world is a conspiracy theory, see the difference? the former is a conspiracy fact. i could point to recent events like MF Global, the LIBOR scandal, but that probably wouldn't mean anything. there's always been systemic corruption, just that shit has run its path and the rule of law is openly being flouted to stop things from falling apart. these phoney elections where neither candidate talks to the real issues should be insulting to most americans. if you vote for obama and shit all goes south in the next couple of years, you know exactly who to blame. and it's not obama, or george bush.

i genuinely try not to comment on this stuff anymore cause it's futile on a lot of levels. but to see a rapper like cube go in the right direction and latch onto all the discontent while not really saying anything of subtance, is a bit frustrating.

rant over :pirate:

Just curious, why does it have to be a black rapper calling out Obama? If Cube does not feel that way about him then that becomes more a perference or an opinion. Lupe Fiasco "spoke" out against Obama, called him a terrorist but hey thats his opinion.

And as far as Cube with his previous albums regarding social commentary: Death Certificate was the prophecy, The Predator was the street report AFTER the prophecy was fullfilled. The topic: race relations in America as it pertains to South Central Los Angeles.

because if a white rapper said it, people would probably use their race to rationalise an opposing opinion against obama. exactly the kind of dumb thinking you come to expect from people. if cube doesn't feel strongly about obama being a bad president, then he has his head in the clouds. time will tell as he'll almost definitely be getting a second term. we'll see if this big recovery materializes ;)

I think "if" and the big word there is if, Cube is going the direction of more political on this album, he definitely is not going to give his entire thought process on one song. Over the years that is one knock I've had on Cube because I for one believe he could be an incredible orator on social commentary in America. Underrated storyteller. As for Obama/Romney to me it's pick your poison.

Never said that is wasn't. Getting the vibe from people that they forgot the other albums Cube was talking about issues when they say he never covered shit. At that time frame that was a very important issue, I lived it.

thx for showing ur tru colors Matty, all of that just for a "hot debate", i dont think so.

u dont live in America so while we appreaciate ur concerns and ur desire for world peace just stay in your corner and admire from afar.  Obama hasnt been a bad manager, but u wouldnt know that becuz Rupert Murdock owns 80% of the news u read.

Youre mad becuz maybe its starting to crystalize to u that "everybody's crazy except for me".

fair enough, i thought it was well established that he said a lot of very relevant stuff back then. not really aware of the full extent or accuracy of it being from out of town...

All good, I seen a couple comments from others and responded. I know Cube is capable of it because I felt it in his first 3 albums and seen it first hand (riots and race wars). Being he is probably my favorite artist of all time. it's frustrating when you get some poppy BS from him lol.

yup, but the direction has to be changed first, not just buying time. obama hasn't changed the overall direction in any meaningful way at all. there's gonna be a big fall before any chance to do so now. the thing that worries me is what history shows about governments and empires when they become overstretched and the 'big fall' happens. the solutions aren't generally very productive, people will listen to anything.

i wish people would stop acting like the fate of US politics is a US only problem. the US$ is THE valuation mechanism for the entire world. the 'arab springs' were a direct result of inflation being exported. but it'll come home to roost. funny thing is where i am (UK) is in it knee deep, london is a global hub of financial fraud and our economy will crumble when finance cracks. we have ongoing money printing too...
