« on: February 25, 2003, 05:05:56 AM »
the reason im comparing these 2 artists:

both careers were revitalized by them signing to big/contoversial labels

both rappers are/were in beefs

both are/were very successful and well hyped

both rapping names begin with numbers

lyrics - 50
flow - 50
production - even. this will be decided on then next 50 album.
voice - 2pac (old 50 voice is the best though)
thugged out music - 50 (he sounds much more believable)
emotional raps - 2pac (50 dont do emotional raps)
clubbing raps - 50
entertainment value - 50

before you start name calling - i aint even a big 50 fan ;)

They can't compare. 2Pac was just so damn good. Those 3 classics in a row, Me Against the World, All Eyez On Me and The 7 Day Theory, they were just unbelievable good. That's to go along with 2Pacalypes Now, which was a very emotional CD, and was the most pure form of 2Pac, Strickly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. which was his break out CD, and a 4.5 mic it's self, and Thug Life was a good album too. 50 needs to be in the game longer to tell if he'll ever compare to 'Pac. The only rappers out right now I would compare to is Nas and Rakim. Scarface maybe mentioned, but his top 10, not top 3. Top 3, 'Pac, Nas and Big, after that, hum, 50 might make top 10, I think realisticly, top 25, but to compare to top 3, not yet, maybe not ever.

Umm... well here's my comparisation of the two MCs, judging by your aspects:

Lyrics - 2Pac (No contest. 50 is a very one-dimensional lyricist, he can't compete with 'Pac on this one.)

Flow - 2Pac (LOL, this one is funny. 50 hasn't got a good flow after being shot in the mouth, 2Pac takes this one easily.)

Production -  Neither (Doesn't matter. The production they get doesn't make either rapper better. An MC is judged by skill, not production.)

Voice - 2Pac (2Pac had a much better voice. 50's lazy drawl ruins it for him.)

Thugged Out Music - 50 Cent (50 takes this. "Many Men (Wish Death)" is an example of 50's cold thugged out music.)

Emotional Raps - 2Pac ("Dear Mama", "Brandy's Got A Baby" and "Keep Ya Head Up" are all examples of emotional 2Pac classics. 50 has never came to recording something as good.)

Clubbing Raps - 50 Cent ("In Da Club" is unbeatable for a club banger.)

Entertainment Value - 50 Cent (50 again, as I think 50 is more entertaining to listen to than 'Pac was.)

Here's a brief summary of my opinion:
2Pac was the better MC. But I prefer 50.

 ;)

hum... where have I been, a rap fan since the 80's. I know of 50 Cents before anyone else did, I been bumping his shit for the longest since I heard him on the Mad Rappers album. I know of the large underground collection. But lets see, all that shit still don't stand to 'Pac's classic. And to whoever said 50 Cents was more entertaining, maybe by todays production feeled standards, but 'Pac sold way more albums, meaning someone must have found him entertaining. 50 Cents, good, I compare him to a young Snoop Doggy Dogg, but to 2Pac, nah, not even close. Nas and Rakim, maybe Scarface, but not 50.

Using homies format....I'll do my version. ImO

Lyrics 2Pac: (No contest)

Flow 2Pac: No rapper before or since has made you feel his pain or anger the way Pac does, his music makes you listen, If it's about gettin' pussy or dreamin' bout death his flow caputres the essence of any beat.)

Voice 2Pac: Pac has the most distinctive voice in hip-hop ever ImO, his laugh his elloquent way of spittin venom without hessitation or pause....He was a shit talker at it's best.

Thugged Out Music: Ask 50 where the blueprint came from....and he'll Say "Westcoast"
WINNER:California

Emotional Raps 2Pac: Nobody does it better than Pac...even years after his death, Mc's have had years to sharpen their swords and still can't catch up to his workhorse method's and Idea's.....ahead of his time.
One of the trailblazer's in this area.

Clubbing Raps 2Pac: I guess peep's forgot about:
"California Love"
"How do u want it"
"2 of Amerikaz most wanted"
"Wanted dead or alive"
"I get around"
ect....This shit don't stop.

Entertainment Value 2Pac: Personaly I've been bumpin' Pac since His apperance on "Same Song" so this is a no brainer for me.

Replay value 2Pac: I know for a fact that I will never get tired of bumpin' Pac's legacy ever...I still replay my catalog of 80's & early 90's music like the shit came out yesterday, My favorites never get boring to me. It's the new music that get's a couple of spin's and then I go back to my regime. Give 50 some time.....I bet most newbies feel the same way about 50, That most of us older cat's thought about Run DmC, or LL, then later N.W.A.

ImO 2Pac: Hand's down, he's your Favorite rapper's Favorite rapper. He was the Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye of hip-hop. He was our Poetry, Music,  Political, And soul.

R.I.P. Pac.
