Irv Gotti's brother shot

heard on the news this mornin that chris gotti, brother of Murder Inc. head Irv Gott, was shot in the leg in front of the Murder Inc./Def Jam offices.  haven't heard anything about who might have done it or if it was self-inflicted yet.

NEWS - Murder Inc. Records Executive Shot
02/25/2003-- Murder Inc. Records executive Chris Gotti (Chris Lorenzo), 39, brother of Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti (Irving Lorenzo), was shot in the leg on West 49th Street in New York City Monday night (February 24) at 8:30 p.m. ET. Gotti was listed in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital after receiving the wound to his left leg, according to New York's Daily News.

At press time, there were no additional details available about the shooting, which came just days after an SUV owned by Busta Rhymes was riddled with bullets outside the Violator Management offices in New York on Friday (February 21). No one was injured in that shooting.

Murder Inc. has been in the news lately as the subject of a federal investigation. Authorities are investigating the connection between Irv Gotti and reputed drug lord Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, who was the head of the infamous Supreme Team drug conglomerate, which made millions in the '80s by selling crack cocaine in Queens, New York. The two men are friends and authorities believe McGriff might have provided some of the seed money to start Murder Inc. Records, and that Gotti might have been laundering money for McGriff.

In January authorities raided Murder Inc.'s offices in New York City as well as a recording studio owned by the company in Manhattan's SoHo area. In addition, Vivendi Universal--the parent company to the Island Def Jam Group, which distributes Murder Inc. Records--was served with grand-jury subpoenas by federal agents. The subpoenas direct the company to turn over royalty records, invoices, and other data that could help authorities link Irv Gotti with McGriff.

Somebody probably told him that 50 was after him & Irv, so he decided to commit suicide, but as he was too chicken to do it, so he shot himself in the leg instead.  :)
