Growing up

growing up isnt that easy anymore
people dont grow up rich they stay poor
most blacks grow up with police knocking at their door
and have their parents seperated by the age of four
its so hard to get to where you wanna be
now so many kids want to grow up to be o.g
they run around in gangs, take drugs, take ectasy
but it is the big picture that they cannot see
kids getting blasted in mid daylight
if you say the wrong word you start a fight
the battle for freedom is no longer against the white
its the gangs and pimps that roam in the night
we are growing up in such a violent society
if you want to do something wrong there is such a large variety
but if we clean up our act, stay true to the game we can make it a better city
no longer have to feel sorry or have pitty
the kids will grow up strong and independant
when they earn their money they will save not spend it
trouble happens they will have the brain power to mend it

but i guess you can
do what you wanna do
see what you wanna see
dont let anybody stop you from being what you wanna be
just keep it true to the game
dont have no shame when someone mentions your name
