Trauma gets in a fight?

O.K., I was at the roller skating rink last night (don't ask, I got free tickets).  Get this crap.  I'll tell you what I did, later.

I'm there with all my friends.  One guy that I've had problems with in the past (I think his girl likes me or something), was all uppetty.  Anyways, we're rolling around in circles (duh, what else can you do at a skating rink?) and this asshole keeps following right behind me, trying to trip me.  AND, he was serious.  He wasn't just playing around, it was like he was pissed or something.

So, anyways, this guy, literally, is right on my *ass, trying to trip me.  We're skating faster and faster, and I'm beating the guy, because he ain't got skills like mine (lol, now I'm bragging about roller skating)... so anyways, I'm outracing the guy, and he's trying to keep up.  All my friends have stopped and are staring.

Finally, this guy goes "I ought whip your ass right now", right in front of everybody.. everybody heard it.  He straight up wanted to fight, and said he was gonna beat my ass.

Should I have

1. Told him I didn't want to fight, and leave

or

2. Fight him


?  It was a private thing, so the police wouldn't have been involved, there wouldn't have been any repurcussions, I could have either just left, or beat his ass.  The reason I wanted to fight was because 1. he was serious, 2. we've had problems before, and 3. he said it right in front of everybody we know, girls, etc.

I'd beat the shit out of him. I would get it over with as quick as possible, just to kick him with my skates in the mouth, and fuck up his teeth. I don't want anyone else fighting though, so I think you should just be like, man what's your problem, and then left the place. 'Cause on the real, fighting is way overrated to solve a problem.
