Well if you do a hard workout without eating anything at all before, you are gonna get tired, and feel weak easily.  I think you should eat something like 2 or 3 hours before you work out, peace

what i do (or did, i havent worked out in months) is eat a few bananas or a protein bar before i work out, to give me that little energy boost. then while i'm working out just drink lots of water. Then i'll eat a meal like 30mins-1hour after my work out.

im no expert, but i find that works for me

this is what i do..I drink a protien shake 30 minutes before work out, and I go work out, Dont do any cardio before lifting weights, I know they say you got too to warm up, buts its all bullshit, because if u do cardio before lifting, you'l waste all your suger on running or whatever u do, and you wont be able to lift weights as u usually can, you would get weaker, now. To answer your question I always eat and go and afterwards when i get back home i drink another protien shake right afterwards, this way the food that i eat can digest better after i do 15-25 minnutes of running loose about 300 calories and when lifting weights, dont take more then 20 secs of pauses between your workouts. You'l burn way more calories belive me. So I would say eating before is better, it works for me....hope I helped..peace

Pre-Training (Competition) Meals
It is reccomended to eat 1 gram of Low Glycemic Index Carbohydrate per 2.2 lbs  of body weight 1-2 hours before competition.  Do not forget to load up on low glcemic index carbohydrates throughout the day as well.

Post-Training (Compettion) Recovery Formula
Consume 0.5 grams of High Glycemic Index carbohydrates per lb. of body weight for each 2 hours after excercise.  Also consume plenty of fluids along with each meal.  Be sure to use alcohol on moderation, as it will delay glycogen re-synthesis.

I was also told (by the nutritionist for the Vancouver Grizzlies) that Yogurt before and after working out is really good.

um....no it's not.

"Prior to any workout, it's important to prepare the muslces for the upcoming activity.  The first step to a proper warm-up consists of getting blood flowing to the muscles.  This is similar to letting your car idle befor putting it into drive.  The idling process gets oil flowing througout the engine, allowing it to run more efficiently.  The same princilples apply to the human body.  Warming the muslces prior to stretching them will enable you to get a better stretch and aviod muscle pulls during the workout."

-Anaheim Angels Off-Season and In-Season Strength and Conditioning Programs, Brian Grapes and Trent Clark

All you have to do is run, jump rope, or use the stairmaster for 5-10 minutes and break a sweat.  Then you're good to go.  And ALWAYS do cardio after a workout.  Otherwise you'll get a buildup of lactic acids in your muscles, and you'll be sore the next day.

Kaidy and ACGrundy and Suga Foot know wat they talkin about.. if U wanna lift to gain muscle then U have to lift about 2 hours after eating, at the point where U got energy and dont feel hungry at all...then at workout do a lite warmup bicycle for 3-5 minutes jus to get the blood flowing, sorry roccy ur wrong, and then go workout push dem weights like they keystyle rhymes nya...and after workout U can do alil cardio if u want and stretch good and immediately after ur strech its good to drink some high sugar/glucose drink...even a glass of OJ would do...and an hour after that its recommended to eat a BIG MEAL...high in complex carbs..to gain back the energy u lost workinout...protein isnt a must carbs are a must...but keep ur protein level high in general...peace.
