Brian/Infinite, you must humble yourself, my son
« on: June 16, 2013, 04:35:23 PM »
Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali ibn Abi Talib said so eloquently that "I warn you about keeping relations with people who look for faults in others".  He continues, "It is incumbent upon every person of intelligence that he carefully look over his weakness...in regards to his thoughts".  And finally, and perhaps most pertinent, he states that "The person who busies himself looking into the faults of others should start by looking into the faults of his own self first".

After you made a thread about mocking, rather than simply educating, another person for his supposed lack of knowledge about rap music, and you are supposedly a Muslim, I felt these quotes might pertain to you in your life and spark a search for enlightenment.

That is some sound advice from Talib.
Somewhat similar to the biblical saying of Yeshua Ha' Maschiach Ben David:

"How canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye".

Luke 6:42

To avoid misunderstanding:
My support of Talib's words were not meant as criticism towards Infinite but only that I found his words potent.
We might all gain from putting them to practice, myself in particular.

Agreed, any man walking this Earth who calls himself a real man should be able to take solace and at least some ounce of wisdom from them.  I'm not religious, per-say, but its fitting to see our particular forum Muslim completely dodging this thread.  No diss intended, just what I see as truth.
