I didn't spend money on the chain, only the pendant. Was it a waste? No, because I had bought this way before gold prices had soared and it has already more than tripled in value. Gold was just over $300 an ounce back then.

How can it be a rip off if gold was at a low when bought but soared afterwards and is at an all time high right now today?   I thought you were a business student? You have a lot to learn about true business kid  

I buy gold and silver bullion. It's never a rip off when you put any money into "non-renewable" physical assets such as precious metals or items which can 'run out'. I would strongly advise everyone to put money into this kind of thing rather than a pension for those looking to the future. True wealth is in your gold, silver, platinum and stones etc. Federal Reserve notes are worthless, even if you have a million of them. I don't know if your classes teach you this because none of mine ever did

Banks were originally (and still are) goldsmiths. In the UK, historically our currency was set to pounds so that people could exchange 5 lbs worth of gold in weight for a £5 receipt to exchange for goods, homes, horses etc.. Vendors would accept these and then go to the bank and exchange them back for gold. However as time has went on we find that £5 wouldn't even buy a flake of gold. Our artificial paper money is no longer backed by gold, or backed by anything, and in fact, to see how worthless it is, as time goes on we need more and more of it in order to buy just 5 lbs worth of our gold back, or anything of true value that they have taken. (It would cost £70,000 of worthless paper today to get back 5 lbs of our gold, probably double that in 10 years) So who has all the gold now? The banks. They have done a fine job by raking in everyones gold, silver and jewelry in exchange for paper. We have all been conned. They have all the gold, and we have worthless paper backed by nothing with less purchasing power every year, So if the markets ever crash guess who gets stung? That's right, the holders of the fake fiat currency that the market is run on, while the holders of all the gold (true wealth) escape unscathed.
