that's right. And g-funk meaning the sound from the 90's , and not just calling something g-funk only because warren made it.
Warren didn't create the sound of g-funk. dre made that sound. Warren just ran with it,
But then started almost claiming g-funk like its his own sound, and then slowly changing his sound on his latest albums ,
completely different to the real g-funk sound, while still shamelessly calling his music g-funk.

If Warren can release a 90s G-funk sound on the EP then I'd consider buying it (Google Play).

Why have a 90's sound when we are in 2013?

Because a 90s sound is better than a 2013 sound.  We want this to sound as best as it can.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

I meant as in a modern-retro style.  I think it can be pulled off - so long as it's laid back and chilled, not up tempo or club style.

 :o

these fools don't understand music.  all u need is a good sample, a good filter, some sine-synths, a turntable for some scratching couped up with some hooks, laid-back raps over laid back beats (most chill, some dark, some happy), and there u have a G-Funk Album.

Feature:

Pimp C
Snoop
Nate
Rage
Daz
Kurupt
The Twinz
Mac Lucci
Nipsey Hussle
Bishop Lamont

and call it a day

People seem to be overthinking this.  I think he's going the right route with an EP, stressing quality over quantity.  It doesn't need a shit ton of features.  I don't care if it's not the traditional G-Funk, as long as it's good music and feels inspired.

Good music and INSPIRATION are definitely key but Formula is just as important too.

U need inspiration and formula to make good music, if not great music.

Warren G is one of those Artist who don't need to be stepping too far out of his lane when it comes to making music.  Doing something different for somebody like him should be a Jazz & Rn'B Rap album with alot of singing and alot of Jazz that's on some old skool jazz shit.

I would agree with that to a certain extent.  I think he's capable of stepping outside his comfort zone but he needs to be inspired. On the other end, if he's not feeling the G-Funk formula, sleepwalking through retro 90's production isn't the answer.  I'm a big fan of music that has fresh production but invokes a certain nostalgia.  I found Just Blaze to be pretty good at that as was Kanye, a few albums back.  Even when he was doing that all autotune album, there was a certain soul to it.

here u go.  it is what it is.  Warren G IS G-Funk, as is Snoop Dogg.  The only difference is that Snoop could actually pull off songs (some) that weren't G-Funkish (as in everything G-Funk)... Warren on tha other hand...... can u imagine Warren G on a track like this?:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/n5mq6fRBdl8" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/n5mq6fRBdl8</a>

Honestly, no shade, You need to understand Hip Hop Music a little more before u cast out thoughts like that.  Ironically, Warren & them gave birth to niggaz like Jeezy.

I gotta young whiteboy homie named Danny that's 15 talkin about he loves Rappers for what they were good at doin in tha first place instead of them crossin over and it had NOTHING to do with him trying to make me happy or show me he knew what he was talking about when it came to Hip Hop or Black Culture.

ALOTTA Veterans make the mistake of trying to "please" the young audience by switching up when in reality the young audience ALREADY loved them for what they were doing in the first place.  And that has nothing to do with Danny or his testimony but trust me when I say he's one of many.

Warren just doesn't have the ear or heart for some shit like this.  He's better off sticking to what he do best.
