I was talking bout Warrens simplistic rhymes bringing the album down.

Like I said to Nik if you had 12 'Regulates' on there the album would be up with Doggystyle no question

Lol which rhymes? He's got classic rhymes all over that album. There's a few spots where he's clearly freestyling which aren't technical masterpieces but still fit nicely on the songs. And they're still freestyles which takes a lot of skill. MC wise, the Twinz absolutely destroyed it, super sole sis destroyed it, dove shack destroyed it, Malik, etc. Production is phenomenal. Album was extremely impactful, everyone was bangin it summer of 94.

I'll ask again, when did you first listen to this?

lol I said it before and I'll say it again.. Gettin mad that a warren g album is not lyrical enough is like gettin mad that there's not enough harmonizing and singing on a wu-tang record.

"36 chambers is a 7/10 because ODB singing on hooks is subpar..no real singers on the entire album"

Real talk

im not too big into rating albums and shit but regulate is far from my favorite. its definitely a classic and all but a lot of songs are just kinda corny to me. "this is the shack" seriously irritates me if i hear it now a days

i would go there because i think 2001 is just a more polished album overall, but i aint mad at folks who feel the chronic is better than 2001. both of em are 9.5-10s in my book.

And Cube sounds hella outdated these days rappin bout hoes with AIDS and on their periods and shit. Album hasn't aged well. Personally prefer Death Cert overall, but neither album is close to The Chronic

i think it might be a generational thing but cubes solo is better and has aged better if you listen to it compared to the chronic.

i loved the chronic but its production and concepts skits and themes just werent as ground breaking as what cube did at the time.

the bomb squads and sir jinx production was not being fucked with on that album when i play them both now i find cubes first album to be a mandatory listen from beginning to finish...the chronic has some songs that got played so much due to main streams exploitation of gangsta rap that i almost cringe when i hear them. cube was pushing so much information at you on that album and the bombsquads layered production was so dense i think as a kid i didnt understand it or appreciate it until now. cubes debut isnt even my preferred cube album (death certificate) but both of those albums IMO are better then the chronic.

the chronic is still one of the best albums of all times but cube dropped back to back classics way before dre and it didnt take 10 years between albums to get it done.
