In a twist w/ WC was so dope, I used to love cruisin and the joint with 40 thevz. Matter of fact his first two albums were the joint.
Our music video which was featured in the motion picture Scary Movie 5 :

I got his 'Gangster's Paradise' album earlier this year.  It's a good album with some nice g-funk sounding cuts on it, although most casual music listeners probably think of Coolio as a one-hit wonder.  I haven't heard any of his other stuff but might check out his debut on the strength of some of the replies.

why is it okay for rock groups to have trials and tribulations and get old as fuck and hit the road and tour but in hip hop we purposefully give our rappers shelf dates? this man had good records and if you were embraced by the media you prolly woulda cut some  commercial shit too...at least even in  his pop shit he maintained gangsta elements and westcoast elements etc.

his run was fucking strong...he just went out like a sucka.

coolio was my shit when i was in elementary.... he deserves way more love in the hip-hop community. i think we are all guilty of hating on him at one point or another, but it was all false hatred. dude was a g and kept it g till this very day.. i'd do a cut wit him any day.

Can't forget that "It's All The Way Live" joint from the Eddie soundtrack.  Don't front.  You all bumped that.

I don't know about that, cuzz... some of his singles were pretty corny and still managed to get major play on radio and I think ultimately that hurt his credibility.  It wasn't his fault though that songs like "1, 2, 3, 4" blew up.

In all seriousness, I think his credibility was more affected by him attaching his name to nearly every celebrity vanity project and reality show out there. Musically, I don't think he ever really made corny music and even the "Keenan & Kel" thing made sense because he understood appealing to a younger market. I think appearing on all these shows made him seem like a C-list celebrity because he was in that Todd Bridges and Vanilla Ice kind of company.
