fuck Kokane.... (...) #nodisrespect
thats interesting ;p

i dont feel Snoop singin either - hes a dope rapper, and he should stick to that, I understand that hes deep in music, so he tries new things, like beat-makin or singin, but hes too average at it..

in once sentence: you dont wanna see kobe bryant playin football (its still sport, but its not his sport,  you get it)

Kokane has always been overrated.  yall know damn well he aint no George Clinton or Bootsy Collins so stop fakin tha funk.  I always felt like he was just a replacement for tha absence of George Clinton on the albums - and his career period

Snoop said 7 Days of Funk was gonna be more of an old school funk/R&B type album, it was not supposed to be a straight up rap album and that's why Snoop sings a lot more. If you listen to what Dam-Funk has done in the past you'll notice that it's smoother, more laid back funk, it's more on the R&B side than on the rap side of things and that's why Snoop went with him. Battlecat has a more aggressive, westcoast gangsta rap style to his beats (which I love so don't get me wrong when I say that), having Battlecat produce the whole EP wouldn't have been too much different than what Snoop's already done in the past with Cat. And for me personally, I prefer when Battlecat comes with them more hard, aggressive funk beats like Dollaz, Drank and Dank or Still More Bounce; when he goes for a softer, more mellow sound, I usually don't feel it as much (usually). I already knew what Dam-Funk had done before and I knew what Snoo was trying to do on this EP so I wasn't surprised at all, I got what I expected and for that it's dope. But yeah, I'm all for a Battlecat produced album where Snoop just raps, but then we're talking about a different type of album altogether.

And Kokane is tight, both at singing and rapping. Hey, if a grip of artist have rocked the talkbox before and after Roger Troutman passed away and if Snoop can get away with doing his fake, swap meet-ass Bootsy Collins impersonation, then why can't Koke do his thing?

overrated?! where?

Well, The Chronic sampled sampled shit lot of George Clinton and whole P-funk and i actually have never seen nobody complainin about it.
Kokane on the other side didnt copy nothin but a bit of George Clinton's style, and by that i mean that he sings with similar voice - but most of his vocals were original. Now - is that just one case? Or is that a case of more than 50% of industry that got heavily influenced by older cats?

I myself actually never though of Kokane as a George Clinton imitator untill i read it somewhere on this forum, but i still dont blame him no way - got lot of respect for Kokane for droppin hot vocals that i havent heard anywhere else.

I never dissed Kokane, I just told it how it iz!  Stop being so emotional.

And foreal tho, stop joking... Gucci>>>Kokane - most people would agree with that just off the strength of his adlibs alone

I had more of a problem with Snoop Dogg than Kokane himself.  Snoop actually had the nerve to get a George Clinton replica and place him all over his music than actually get George Clinton himself.  That was my beef.
