The interview the quote came from was from a sit-down interview he did after Pac got killed but before he went to prison. It was included as part of the "Thug Immortal" Tupac documentary, if I'm not mistaken. He doesn't mention Dre specifically but he's clearly implying that it is him.

I can certainly see how it would be interpreted differently and how people might even find humor in shit like that but that wasn't really the conversation I was on. Finding a different context for songs after finding out some personal shit about the artist is always good for a chuckle or two but you're still missing the point.

It's not even really specifically the gay thing that has me amused as it is how people respond to their favorite artists or ones they listen to regularly doing questionable shit. I've brought this up in relation to a few varying topics because it's funny how it's less about the crime and more about the music when it comes time to vilify the artist. Whether it's snitching, beating up their wife or significant other, engaging in homosexual behavior, or whatever it may be, every now and again, you see people taking these half-hearted stances because they want to act like the shit bugs them enough to boycott the music but they can't do it. They want to make their musical tastes blend with their agendas. You ever hear anyone accuse one of their favorite artists of being in the Illuminati? Probably not. It's only the music they think sucks and only rappers they hate are homosexuals or snitches or pedophiles.

I got to a similar argument with people who now try to claim Kanye West is "untalented" because he says some outspoken shit. It's this thing that people are on where they have to like someone's ideals to enjoy their music. And I'm saying you don't have to.

This one is for you:

Well now that some of you have seen the video.

I can tell you that the leadsinger in that video was charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a one-year-old girl, and with possession of and/or distribution of indecent images of children and "extreme animal pornography." He further pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault involving children and six involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal. Watkins' victims included a baby boy, and he sent an SMS text message to the mother (a groupie) of one, saying: "If you belong to me, so does your baby."

Will you tell me that you can look at the video and still enjoy his music, no matter what an artist has done in the past.
Him singing about hypocrites and morals. When he is the biggest hypocrite with no morals at all.

He never said that. Only that you don't necessarily have to like an artist as a person or what he's doing to enjoy the music. In a case like you presented here you can still always decide to not listen to it. And righfully so, I'd say.

But what would people on here do if some day Andre3000 admitted to being bisexual. Stop bumping Outkast? ::)
i don´t need any medicate shit im 100 normal.

You should look at the concept and the background of that song and musicvideo.

About bumping it or not is not mine point. It is personal choice/taste.
But to say that it would not make a difference at all between the creativity of an artist and his background. I disagree.
You know Hitler was also a painter.
Can we say we can still enjoy his paintings without thinking of the things he has done?

I see. Yes, I think it's possible to rate the quality of Hitler's paintings without looking at what else he did. If they are enjoyable is another question. ;) If he only would have been a better painter and a lesser demagogue...

The Lost Prophets example is propably better. But even here I'd say that you can rate the work without considering what vile shit that man is responsible for. Maybe it's beautiful music. But again, Jimmy H. only said that you don't necessarily have to like an artist as a person or what he's doing to enjoy the music. That doesn't mean that it's also the other way around and possible to álways seperate artist and work. Yours is a good example for an instance in which it's not possible, at least IMO.

But that's such an extreme case. This thread here is only about an RnB singer that was on a couple of DR records and might or might not be gay. I think it's not completely crazy to think that you should still be able to listen to that records without minding what the man's personal life might be like.

I don't stay don't listen. That would be an insult 2 your intellect.
To tell you what to listen too.
And I respect anyones intellect.

My point was more technical, does an artist background influence the way you listen to him. I say it does.

But although me and fraxx have different viewpoints on some subjects.
I respect his views and he is still a cool dude.

And I agree (just in case I failed to make that clear ;D). It's not always like that but definitely sometimes.
