best snoop project in the last few years?
« on: May 05, 2014, 12:27:38 PM »
its probably this

i think the album has a lot of appeal. funky beats, upbeat vibe. i dunno if it sold well but this is exactly the type of thing people are feeling right now. i liked the dam funk project a lot but this beats it for production - eg nottz & jake one bangers. but it's just generally more appealing to the wider audience. i think snoop would do a great album with this type of this sound. did anyone else really like this one?

disclaimer - never watched the movie.

High School was a little lacking in subject matter but that was to be expected since its a soundtrack to a short weed movie (which is only good if you're a stoner), cool album though I always felt it didn't get the love it should have especially on here

Doggumentary was dope too despite there being some filler, never heard 7 Days so I'll download that one later tonight when I get home  8)

yeah i didn't think of doggumentary, was the same year as the mac & devin so material from the same period. 'weed iz mine' is classic 8) but everything since then not so much, wasn't so into the lion stuff. 7 days is dope but a little too bare bones for me. need to hear him over quik music again 8)

I thought doggumentary was sub-par for the most part....he sounds most comfortable on 7 days of funk, and every beat slaps.

"The Way It Used To Be", "My Own Way", "Wonder What It Do", "We Rest N Cali", "Take U Home" were all classic too  8)

I really liked "Eyes Closed" too even though that Kanye verse was recycled and the beat samples the same shit as the next song

High or not that movie is a piece of shit (just stick with the soundtrack).

As for the last good Snoop project, it's obviously

Post-BTC Snoop I fux wit

Snoop Dogg - The City Is In Good Hands Mixtape
Snoop Dogg - Malice 'N Wonderland
Snoop Dogg - Doggumentary

Everything else, I find Snoop unlistenable on

I gave Malice a spin the other day and in retrospect its a decent pop/rap album, musically too. Foreal it was the beginning of the end for Snoop's rap career doe...

I haven't been up on much newer Snoop material post Ego-Trippin', which is the last new album I bought from him, but I recently checked out some choice cuts from 7 Days of Funk and I was very impressed - that's the sort of production that fits Snoop the best.  Think that'll be my next CD cop  8)
