I am in no way saying Quik had anything to do with either of these songs but both these tracks always reminded me of a Quik type beat.

Dom Kennedy - When I Come Around

Wiz Khalifa - Kid Frankie

"Kid Frankie" track sound like Quik, because of the sample..Loose Ends.

DJ Quik used others Loose Ends tracks on Suga Free and Shaq production.

And the "When I Come Around' maaaaaaa... circa 2011 i wished DJ Quik jumped on a remix version of this.

This track is crazy..props to J.Lbs

DJ Quik was involved in Snoop & Kurupt's Ride On. and he is said to have ghostproduced R. Kelly's Home Alone too (which is credible since G-1 produced it)

when the single was poppin it was in the source (back when it was credible) as being produced by DJ quik.

No disrespect but on a lot of that shit you are reaching. I know you are a big Quik fan (I am too) but I don't think he had a hand in a lot of that stuff you mentioned. If you mean things like his drum sounds on Get Rich or Die Tryin (some interviews he says it's In Da Club, other interviews he says it's If I Can't) that's not a big deal. Producers trade drum files all the time. Dre did all the work as far as programing the drums, it's just Quik's sounds. It's a few songs on Trauma and Under The Influence that has Dr. Dre drum sounds, Dre ain't gonna hoop & hollar about that.

Man..this is a fun topic..

People post here good music with or without Quik's hand.

Don't take the topic seriously. Just have fun imagining who was on record process of these songs. Its fun.

Dre don't hoop ad hollas about nothing..the man don't speak about your music on interviews..

Better..he doesn't give many interviews

interesting thread.

some of this is speculation, unless you have evidence or more tangible elements than "it has his signature sound" or "it was recorded during the same period", you can't really say that Quik produced this or that, even though sometimes all the elements adds up, i think the What They Do theory for example is far fetched.

also, you gotta be careful and accurate with the terms you use, dj quik may be involved in all the tracks you mention but it's one thing to be involved in the process and another to be the producer of the song.

This is like "Midnight Love" which wasn't produced by Blake but Priest and Snoop could use some elements created by DJ Quik for the instrumental but I doubt for this one. Who knows ? Perhaps Raphael Saadiq got the instrumental idea from one which was made by Quik for Tony! Toni! Toné! Anyway, this "Midnight Love" instrumental wasn't produced by Quik.

"Midnight Love"
(Snoop Doggy Dogg featuring Dat Nigga Daz & Raphael Saadiq)
(produced by : Snoop Doggy Dogg, Soopafly)
(guitar : Raphael Saadiq)
(percussions : Carl Butch Small)
(mixed by : Dave Aaron)

believe it or not, he did some work on the spice girl's debut album. look it up

I remember one of their singles from that album definitely had a g-funk sounding synth lead in the middle of it.  Perhaps it was that one.

G-Funk was the flavor of the day in the mid 90's so you had everybody trying their hands at it.
