that sounds dope! i like it

Yeah.. the official version is a little bit bland... I mean I know it went with the dark Doggfather theme... but I swear whenever I put that album in the weather turns cloudy to this day that Doggfather album has been a curse on my life.   And now my son wants to bump that album, he even liked the Skit about the woman gettin bit by a dog he explained it to me I actually never knew what that skit was all these years, but my 7 yr old got it after one listen
how did you not understand that?

I don't know... just seemed like an odd Skit to me, never really paid attention
Givin' respect to 2pac September 7th-13th The Day Hip-Hop Died

"Tha Doggfather" is literally Hip Hop's biggest "coulda, woulda, shoulda".  Minus the ultra-mega single(s) this album had potential to be better than "Doggystyle" and I'm not exaggerating.

So much could've and should've been done with that album it will always remain one of Rap's greatest mysteries.  And the fact that Snoop never talks about it ever or even that time frame says a lot and adds to its mystique.

Even without Dre, Suge, Pac, & the murder trial he would've easily created a timeless masterpiece.  Hr had all of the resources, songs, & instrumentals to do so

No, it is not. And do you even know what the word "literally" means because you seem to be confused on that one too.

  How exactly?

No, the guy wrote Malis
I don't know who is he! But yeah, maybe he made a mistake and it's featuring Malik

He had the westcoast on his bacc and (I believe) sabotaged his own album for a reason.  Or maybe reasons...

There's way too many different ways that album could've turnt out.  The released version is obviously watered down intentionally.  And if you can't hear that then there's no way I can tell u how.

Even the album cover felt like it was 'tampered' with.  I'm just looking at the facts, no more no less

÷ and this was just an uninspired rush job of an after cover.  I had a feeling once that the back layout was the front cover.  It just seemed too natural

Ideally, the album should've had this drawing as the front cover - or a variation of it:

When you place yourself in a business and marketing point of view where you're a prestigious talent company where quality and authenticity is your specialty.  Its hard to believe that that album released was released becuz they thought they were giving out the best product.

songs (that we know of):

Caught Up
County Blues
C-Walkin
My Favorite Color - with a better instrumental
Me And My Doggz
Hollywood Bank Robbery
Groupie
Tha Vapors
Tha Genie
I Will Survive
You Thought
Eastside Party
Too Blacc
Blueberry
Out The Moon
Intro
Ride 4 Me
When I Grow Up
Traffic Jam
Outro
Freestyle Conversation Intro

optionals:
Get Up 2 Get Down
Dippin N My Lo-Lo
Santa Clause Goes Straight To The Ghetto

timing question
**Midnight Love** (I'm not sure when this was recorded)
***Too High*** (I'm also not sure when this was recorded)
****O.G.**** (it got remade but when?  Before or during the Christmas 97')

beats that should've been re-worked
*****Wanted Dead Or Alive*****
******My Favorite Color******
*******Sixx Minutes******* (but mixed better, yall know that shit was missin that phunk bassline like a "Keep Ya Heads Ringin" + the organ rhode should've been thick.  That whole track's mixing is off.  Maybe it was designed to be replayed and re-recorded with live instruments originally?  It translates well)

instrumentals:
Let Me Ride (DRGH Version)
Lil Ghetto Boy (DRGH Version)
Nuthin But A 'G' Thang (DRGH Version)
It's So Hot - Sam Sneed - ("Snoop's Upside Ya Head?)
Guilty As Sin - Street Scholars
OBG - Swoop G
I Don't Hang - Soopafly
Don't Stop - Tha Dogg Pound

Switched out:

Tha Doggfather (retail) =/=> Tha Doggfather (this version) = on a Single
Time After Time by OFTB = Wanted Dead Or Alive [Soundtrack version]
Up Jumps Tha Boogie = Out The Moon
Gold Rush = Hollywood Bank Robbery
Wake Up = Death Row's Greatest Hits

engineers & producers available:
DJ Quik
Daz
Sam Sneed
Warren G - even with "minimal" input
Soopafly always knew how to Produce and Play
DeVante Swing

THIS IS THE COOKIE JAR YOU'RE LOOKING IN TO FOR THE FOLLOW UP TO "SNOOP DOGGY DOGG"S DEBUT.  And given all that had happened from "Doggystyle" until then plus the more maturer version of Snoop plus friendlier yet still cutting edged enough material.  And you can tell by some of his verses he was acting as "Snoopy Corleone"

Thats not even all of the catalog up until then.  One just can't simply come to the conclusion this was just "bad timing".

Dippin in my low low and any collabo with 2pac not making the album was a huge mistake looking back

esp not having a 2pac collabo....Street Life, If There's a Cure and a few others are just sitting there wasted.
