Ice Cube on Lil Eazy-E: "We gave him a shot. It just didn't work out."

Eazy-E's son, Lil Eazy-E, has said that he wishes he would have been chosen to play the role of his father in an upcoming N.W.A biopic. Ice Cube, whose son is set to play him in the film and who's executive producing the project, recently spoke about why Lil Eazy-E isn't going to act in the motion picture.

"He’s an up-and-coming actor trying to do it," Cube said in an interview with Colorado radio station KS 107.5, according to AllHipHop, "but we needed somebody who was a little more polished to play Eazy, because he goes through a lot in his life. He goes from selling dope in Compton to fighting for his life in a hospital bed. So we needed to find an actor with a lot of range. And we just couldn’t use just anybody. We gave him a shot, and it just didn’t work out."

Earlier this year, Lil Eazy spoke about the film.

"I wish I could have got [the part]," he said. "I don't think anybody can do it better. It's what I've been doing for the past 10 years of my career. I came out on Hip Hop Honors years ago and performed in front of Cube and Russell Simmons and they told me I was a striking resemblance."

Nevertheless, Lil Eazy has said he's going to support the film and Jason Mitchell, the actor selected to play Eazy-E.

"Jason has come to my grandmother's house where I was born and raised, where my father was born and raised and where N.W.A started," Lil Eazy-E has said. "I reached out to him to give him the support and any advice he needs. He has a big burden on his shoulders to bring forth the character and legacy of my father and the legacy of N.W.A, period…I'm not upset about [the casting]. What Cube did was a great thing and a loving father, that you're supposed to do for your family and your legacy.”

It's a good thing that Ice Cube's son is a seasoned actor so that he had the experience to play his dad

Exactly, which is the reason why Ice needs to holla at Above The Law and/or some of the other artist at Ruthless who were there up until when Eazy died. Cube played himself by even opening up his mouth and saying anything. The movie has been in the works for years now, Lil Eazy could have been taking acting lessons getting ready for the role and by the time they actually started shooting he would have been ready.

    Petitioning Universal Pictures

We want one of Eazy E's sons to play Eazy E.

        Cassandra Bautista

        Petition by

        Cassandra Bautista

        Los Angeles, CA

It is important to have one of Eazy E's son to play their father Eazy E in the upcoming movie NWA Biopic Straight Outta Compton so that Eazy E is represented in the most genuine light as possible. There is no other actor or person who can bring Eazy E's presence to the  screen the way that his actual sons can. They alone  share the most closest voice, spirit, and mannerisms as their legenday father.

The film based on the group N.W.A. should not only  be  true to life but serve as a medium to resurrect Eazy E's aura back to life. Many artists and the music industry  miss him tremendously and feel still connected to him when they see his children.

Since Eazy E  created music history and this film will be a testimony of Hip Hip culture it is important that this film continues in Eazy E's fashion of brining awarenss to issues and demanding justice. A movement like this can not be fruitful if it excludes  the children of Eazy E a man who is grealty responsible for a genre of music that challenged social injustice.

This movie is not  a documentary it is an opportunity to brings groups of people together and to inspire many generations  the way that  Eazy E did through his music and his leadership skills. It is with no doubt that the highest form of respect for a person is to care for their children in their absence. N.W.A. supporters demand that Eazy E's children be included in this production.

Eazy E's children are multi- talented, have a large fan base, continue to  to keep their father's name represented in the same light as he would hope for and have been true to Eazy E's supporters and fans.

Eazy E's supporters are petitioning on behalf of an music artist that brought pride, joy, and awareness to groups of people that have been historically marginalized. By not having one of Eazy E's sons in this film but allowing Ice Cube's son to play a part in the film is injust.

To:
Universal Pictures
Tomica Wright
Andre Young
F. Gary Gray
Matt Alvarez
Will Packer
We want one of Eazy E's sons to play Eazy E.

Sincerely,

The rapper turned comedy actor was then asked if making the film might inspire either a studio reunion or even a live comeback to which he replied, "I'd say don't rule anything out. It could happen. Hopefully doing this record project will inspire Dre to make more records again. I think the movie will remind a lot of people the importance of who we were and what we did – including us. We're here to give the people what they want so who knows what will happen after the movie."

this would be cool!
