DJ Quik Helped Out on YG's Album
« on: September 20, 2014, 10:45:58 AM »
Peep this new interview with Quik:

He mentions toward the end that he mixed My Nigga and Pop That Pussy.

Quik fucks with Jeezy - he scored both of Jeezy's documentaries - so he did this as a favor to Jeezy.

DJ Quik is in the motherfuckin house.

You haven't heard My Nigga before? It's one of the best rap singles of the past year, in my opinion. Really catchy and the sound is clean - not surprising to find out that Quik had a hand in it.

As a favor to Jeezy? Didn't Quik allegedly help on "Toot It & Boot It" a few years ago?

Was he credited in the booklet?

i read the liner notes just a few days ago and I didn't see Quik's name in it, might have missed it though but I remember "MixedbyAli" from TDE mixing the bulk of the songs.

I don't doubt Quik's word but why would they conceal his name ? maybe that's his own wish but Terrace Martin is credited for the majority of the songs, they mentioned all the samples, interpolations and the writers are all mentioned, this ain't no Death Row booklet type of job, lol

If you look at the credits of the two movies that Jeezy made - the one is a short action film where Jeezy quits the rap game to sell cocaine again, the other is a documentary about Jeezy's life - you will see David "DJ Quik" Blake credited as the man who scored both films. Quik probably made decent money off the work and is therefore tight with Jeezy, who is now an A&R at his label.

Jeezy also fucks with Warren G, had him produce a single a few years back. That's a real nigga.

Well, Quik and YG are from the same hood. He probably didn't mind lending a hand to one of his own.
