Yes, of course... all you have to do is manage it in a way where it can't blow up in your face the next day if things go wrong.

A love that lasts will encompass every emotion known to humans at some point in the relationship. Pain is pretty much guaranteed to be there sometimes.

I think we need to differentiate between Lust and Love.

Lust is like wine, if you drink of it, it will not satisfy your thirst...you want more, more, more. Till it ruins you.

Love is like water, if you sip of it, it will satisfy your thirst.

yes because love is a wholesome, kind & selfless state of mind, the longing for the happiness of another/others. experiencing pain or suffering is something else, happening in a different moment, for whatever reason. just because humans are often experiencing ups and down in their relationships doesn't speak to the nature of love itself, only that we feel a lot of different things.

the problem with 'romantic' love is you have lust-attachment in the mix. understandable enough and even 'necessary', given our animal nature and desire to reproduce. but that's more the root of pain in relationships, the desire to possess or change another etc, not love itself.

Well put.

In simple terms: Love = Giving.
"Give and ye shall receive".

That's why brotherly love is held in such high regard. It's "untainted" by sexual desire but can still be as strong and intimate.

And THAT is what these sissy men ruin for all of us! j/k
