Did we fall into a time loop and somehow travel back to 1999 — because that’s the only way that the following mess makes any sort of sense.

Apparently, former hip-hop mogul Sean Combs, or P. Diddy, or Puff Daddy, or Diddy or whatever-the-hell-he’s-going-by-nowadays, is rumored to be planning legal action against the writers of FOX’s mega-series, Empire, as well as its creator, film producer Lee Daniels.

According to AllHipHop, Combs feels that the character of Lucius Lyon, played by Terrance Howard, and the fictionalized dealings of Empire Records, which Lucius built with his former wife, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is a bit too similar to his own life, as well as the creation of his once-prominent record label, Bad Boy.

Admittedly, some of the story lines played out on Empire, and the actions of the now-45 year old Vitamin Water pusher do have some similarities. However, if the rumors are true, then they actually would be rather damning to Diddy.

For instance *SPOILERS AHEAD*, Lucius kills one of his best friends, a heavyset man who believed that Lucius would be nowhere without him, early on in the series. In real life, Diddy’s closest confidante, the rapper Notorious B.I.G., was senselessly murdered in a hail of gunfire back in 1997.

In truth, we’re all hoping that this is all just a bunch of B.S. if only for the sake of not giving “Mr. Shiny Suit Man” any more mention in today’s entertainment world.
