Man can you believe this guy???

American Imperialism?
Milton H. Saier
I am VERY worried about our world. The Bush administration has disregarded international law, ignored the UN, acted against the wishes of our international allies and the majorities of the populations of Europe, Asia and Africa, (as well as many nations in the Americas), disregarded the advice of the pope, twice attacked a foreign nation without provocation, used weapons of mass destruction that are forbidden by international law, threatened to use nuclear weapons, "if necessary", acted irresponsibly, angering other nations with the potential consequences of a third world war, ignored important environmental concerns including the vital international global warming agreements, begun the destruction of our National Forests, abolished federal support for international birth control, passed legislation to compromise abortion rights, passed legislation that compromises our federal social and educational programs that were meant to promote an equal opportunity society, and passed legislation that drastically increased military spending in a time of peaceful coexistence while decreasing spending for virtually all internal and international social programs that have the potential to creat a safe and just world based on rational thought. In short, the powers behind this adminisrtation have done nothing for the American people, but have caused trmendous damage.
The Bush administration has repeatedly lied and misled the American public to promote their vision of the world which I am becoming increasingly convinced is an imperialistic one dominated by US military might. They have passed legislation that has substantially compromised the civil liberties of its citizens. They have disregarded conventional views of justice, and have taken a "MIGHT MAKES RIGHT" approach. It is estimated that roughly 50% of the world's total military budget is already spent by the US. This tremendous amount of money could have been used for the benefit of the world populations and for programs that would reduce the dire consequences that our excessive human population is bringing on the planet and its biosphere. The actions of the Bush administration are frighteningly similar to those taken by the Nazis under the Hitler administration during the early years when they were consolidating their power in preparation for WWII.
Fifty years ago, the Republican party was a conservatve party following a path of moderation. This is no longer the case. Their actions benefit a very small segment of the American public. These officials mask their actions by hiding behind a pretense of religious fervor. If their fervor were anything besides pretense, they could not justify mass murder of peoples who have done nothing to endanger their safety or provoke their wrath. They are endangering the welfare of the vast majority of Americans. they are creating an interternational atmosphere of antagonisms and mistrust.  They definitely do not understand a world view that aims to create a responsible world community with the goal of having justice and opportunity available to all. They do not understand what perils lie in store for us when we disregard international law and our dependency on our planet and its environment. The Republican party is the closest thing that exists in our world to the totalitarian regime that Hitler envisaged. I believe with full conviction that the minds behind Bush have similar goals.  American Imperialism rings of the chants of "Deutschand neber alles" that was heard at all national events in Nazi Germany.  I do not believe that Iraq will be the last.  It may be a testing ground for a series of of battles that will test the military superiority of the united States at tremendouscost to the nation and all of Earth's inhabitants.
Do not scoff at the statement I have made.  They are based on facts and not nationalistic propaganda.  We live in a very dangerous time. We are losing our democratic form of government and the principles upon which our constitution was based.  there is no adequate balance of power in the US government, and no adequate balance of power in the world.  This is exactly what the founders of our nations had feared might happen.
If any of you still support Bush and his administration, it is imperative for the future of our world that you carefully reconsider your priorities. Discard any selfish motives you may have, thinking, for example, that tax cuts will benefit you and your family. They will not. They will only endanger you by creating an explosive and unstable society that will have to be controlled by force. And the loss of funding for our social and educational programs harms YOU and your children directly.  If you believe Bush's administration is more pious than another potential regime, then you don't understand the meaning of "Thou shall not kill".
Discard any notion that the unprovoked attacks that the Bush administration has launched against two foreign countries are in any way justified. Bush and his cohorts are criminals of the highest order. They must be brought to justice in an international court. They do not deserve your support. Only YOU can make a difference, and the time is short. I implore you to act now to help prevent the pending disaster that awaits us. Any action you take now will be tremendously appreciated by the generations that follow.

LOL what a hippie...

Instead of making irrelevant comments and personal attacks, can you break down precisely what u found wrong with this essay. I would like to hear your perspective.
"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

twice attacked a foreign nation without provocation

threatened to use nuclear weapons, "if necessary", (so?....what if sadaam has nukes, then are we just gonna watch him nuke us all -HYPOTHETICAL SITATION, dont come whiing that sadaam doesnt have nukes bla bla bla)

The Bush administration has repeatedly lied and misled the American public to promote their vision of the world which I am becoming increasingly convinced is an imperialistic one dominated by US military might. (this is something a lot of you paranoid anti-US fools will agree with but I just have to roll my eyes here ::) )

I agree with him on the environmental stuff...stupid Bush doesn't realize how important it is.

It is estimated that roughly 50% of the world's total military budget is already spent by the US. These officials mask their actions by hiding behind a pretense of religious fervor. (really?)

The Republican party is the closest thing that exists in our world to the totalitarian regime that Hitler envisaged. I believe with full conviction that the minds behind Bush have similar goals. (Yeah, sure.... ::) )

Do not scoff at the statement I have made. (I shall!)

They are based on facts and not nationalistic propaganda. (Facts=hippie mentality)

Just loko at those quotes^^ You can obviously see whats wrong with them...

twice attacked a foreign nation without provocation

THIS IS TRUE.

threatened to use nuclear weapons, "if necessary", (so?....what if sadaam has nukes, then are we just gonna watch him nuke us all -HYPOTHETICAL SITATION, dont come whiing that sadaam doesnt have nukes bla bla bla)

THE WHOLE ARGUMENT FOR WAR WITH IRAQ WAS BASED ON A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION.

The Bush administration has repeatedly lied and misled the American public to promote their vision of the world which I am becoming increasingly convinced is an imperialistic one dominated by US military might. (this is something a lot of you paranoid anti-US fools will agree with but I just have to roll my eyes here ::) ) QUAKE, I SUGGEST YOU DO SOME SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT PAUL WOLFOWITZ, RICHARD PERLE, RUMSFELF, CHENEY AND THE REST OF THE HAWKS IN THE ADMINISTRATION. THEY HAVE DESIGNED A BLUEPRINT TO ENSURE ISRAELI STABILITY AND MILITARY HEGEMONY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THIS IS AN IMPERIALISTIC WAR, DOMINATED BY US MILITARY MIGHT. HOW CAN YOU BE SO NAIVE AS NOT TO SEE IT?

I agree with him on the environmental stuff...stupid Bush doesn't realize how important it is. WORD. BUSH'S STANCE ON KYOTO IS DISGUSTING.

It is estimated that roughly 50% of the world's total military budget is already spent by the US. This tremendous amount of money could have been used for the benefit of the world populations and for programs that would reduce the dire consequences that our excessive human population is bringing on the planet and its biosphere. POVERTY, AIDS, ETC. 70 BILLION DOLLARS FOR WHAT?

These officials mask their actions by hiding behind a pretense of religious fervor. (really?) YES.

The Republican party is the closest thing that exists in our world to the totalitarian regime that Hitler envisaged. I believe with full conviction that the minds behind Bush have similar goals. (Yeah, sure.... ::) ) NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. "IT WOULD BE MUCH MORE EASIER IF THIS WERE A DICTATORSHIP, PROVIDED I WAS THE DICTATOR OF COURSE." - BUSH

Do not scoff at the statement I have made. (I shall!) YOU SCOFF WITHOUT PROPERLY STATING WHAT IT IS THAT NEEDS TO BE SCOFFED AT,

They are based on facts and not nationalistic propaganda. (Facts=hippie mentality) THIS IS JUST SLURS AND PERSONAL ATTACKS.

Just loko at those quotes^^ You can obviously see whats wrong with them... I FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR PROFESSOR HAS SAID. AND I FIND THAT YOU HAVENT SUFFICIENTLY JUSTIFIED YOUR POSITION.

instead of posting the professor's essay without any kind of further comment, you added "lol, what a hippie". hence when someone agrees with the professor's opinion it implies that he/she is a hippie as well. as a result, you started the beef.
