I thought nash won in 06 and 07, my mistake

either way, kobe was robbed of media love post rape trial, so the popularity contest (mvp award) don't really mean much in the big picture, because he was hands down the best player in basketball durin the duration of his prime. even used to make Duncan his bitch in the playoffs regularly.

well now that we can put that myth of Nash "stealing 2 mvp's from kobe" behind all of us

let's talk more about Duncan - dude is beasting right now.  at age 500.  after 4 years of college - imagine all the extra poitns and rebounds he'd have if he left 2 years early like Steph Curry for example.

The MVP is not legit hardware. As proven in the 90's when they gave it to other players just so they can stop giving it to MJ, or in the 2000's when they gave it to every player but Kobe because of the trail. They gave the MVP trophy too early to LeBron because they media was so ready to make him the face of the NBA when Kobe was clearly the better player in 2009. In the 80's, Magic Johnson didn't win an MVP award before 1987, I mean what kind of bullshit was that? 2007, not only Dirk winning was crazy, Nash beat Kobe in votes for the third straight year. Can't no one tell me Nash was better than Kobe in any year Kobe played over 75 games. The MVP award is the most bullshit award in the NBA. You can't tell me between Shaq and Kobe, they only got 2 MVP awards and then argue with me that the MVP award is legit.

Bottom line, the MVP award is the worst way to judge who's the best in the NBA... period.

Kobe is never playing in another playoff game in his career lol

And Duncan ain't winning another title either.

Let's just get this out the way,

Kobe, 17 time all star, Duncan 15 time all star
Kobe, 9 time all defensive team, Duncan, 8 time all defensive team
Kobe, 11 time all NBA first team, Duncan, 10 time all NBA first team

Their stats head to head are comparable considering Kobe is a guard and Duncan is a power forward. Kobe shoots more and scores more points, and has more assist and steals per game, were as Duncan gets more rebounds and has more blocks per game. But like everything else, they are comparable, BUT Kobe has just the slightest of edges head to head. Kobe is 4-2 against the Spurs in the playoffs, Kobe has scored more points, Duncan has been able to adjust his game to be a piece to Pop's system and Kobe has FORCED the Lakers to bend to fit his skill set.

These two are close, but at the end of the day, Kobe has the smallest of margins against Duncan.

I am still waiting on the LeBron is greater than Duncan post. That's how you KNOW Kobe is better. If Duncan was the best of this era, then LeBron fans would be trying to talk about how LeBron is better than Duncan. Instead they pick Kobe....

The most telling stat of Kobe being better than Duncan. Kobe has WAY more haters than Duncan.

kobe was KNOWN for shitting on duncan in the playoffs....he was literally every Spurs fan worst nightmare. it took kobe bein injured for the spurs to take out the lakers in 2012.

at the end of the day, the only thing duncan has on kobe is that he's been on a great team for his entire career.......if kobe was on a great team from the day he was drafted, he'd have 10 titles by now. as individual players, it's not even close. Kobe>>>>>>>>Duncan.
