An early version of the script for "Straight Outta Compton" was 150 pages with a run-time of three and a half hours.

Dr. Dre's 1991 assault on Rap journalist Dee Barnes was included in an early edition of the movie script for Straight Outta Compton, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The scene reportedly depicted a drunk Dr. Dre approaching Barnes at a party and confronting her about Ice Cube's appearance on Pump It Up! where he disses Dre and N.W.A. She defends herself by saying her job as a journalist is to let Cube tell his story.

"The conversation escalates, Barnes throws her drink in Dre's face before he attacks her 'flinging her around like a rag-doll, while she screams, cries, begs for him to stop,'" the article reads, citing the script.

The Times says that director F. Gary Gray says the original script for the film was 150 pages with a run time of three and a half hours.

"There are so many things that you can add or subract," Gray says. "Cube always said, 'You can make five different N.W.A movies.' We made the one we wanted to make."

Barnes shared her thoughts on the movie, saying "I found myself a casualty of Straight Outta Compton's revisionist history." She says that Gray was the cameraman who filmed Cube's Pump It Up! interview.
