He broke a couple of franchise marks for the Redskins last season without a running game. Besides, who else are they going to go with?

Yep, and although it's a lot of money they're only on the hook for one year and get a chance to see if he's really a guy they want to put significant money into. The move makes sense.

All the more reason to have a trial year. He played very well last year and they will get a chance to see if he's a guy they wanna make a multiyear investment in. I still don't see any problem with this.
