[With his new “Murder Rap: Inside The Murders of Biggie Smalls and 2Pac” finally available, director Mike Dorsey talks to SOHH about the film release’s aftermath.]

I haven’t heard anything from their family members. If these were my family members, I would be focused on their life.

I wouldn’t want to focus on their death. They accomplished so much through their art and for the first thing that comes up in conversations is how they died is unfortunate.

I wouldn’t want to focus on that if they were one of my family members. I haven’t heard anything from them regarding the film.

But when [former LAPD detective] Greg Kading’s book came out, he heard from people on both sides. I let them speak for themselves.

The thing that motivated me for this was that it was all new information. 99 percent was stuff never shown in any movie before. That’s my criteria.
