GoFundMe Campaign Launched For Balls Mahoney
« on: April 14, 2016, 02:15:29 PM »
The family of Jonathan "Balls Mahoney" Rechner has started a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of raising $25,000 to pay for the funeral costs of the late ECW Original.

You can donate to the funeral costs for Mahoney, who passed away on Tuesday at age 44, by going to: https://www.gofundme.com/BALLSMAHONEY

The message attached to the GoFundMe campaign written by the family of Jonathan Rechner reads as follows:

April 12, 2016 my cousin Gayle and her son Christopher lost a force larger than life, Jonathan Rechner. The world knew him as ECW World Champion Balls Mahoney, but we knew him as family.

Jon was an avid reader and devoted father. He was kind and generous with his fans and his death comes a sudden and terrible loss just 1 day after his 44th birthday. I am hoping to raise funds to help cover the costs of the funeral as well as aid in taking care of Christopher and Gayle.

Your donations, no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated, and will be a massive support to Gayle and Jon's family, please share.

    Thank you

He was loved and respected enough by fellow ECW alumni. His family should be all set.

Mahoney's Wife Speaks About His Death

Balls Mahoney was watching Jeopardy and answering trivia questions moments before losing consciousness Tuesday evening. This is according to his wife, who says she’s still unsure what caused his death.

Mahoney’s wife Gayle told ProWrestlingSheet.com that they were watching television Tuesday night when he made a move to get more comfortable on the couch by laying on his side.

Moments later though, Gayle noticed Mahoney was unconscious and immediately dialed 9-1-1 before attempting to revive him with CPR. Once medics arrived however, they said Mahoney had already passed.

Gayle noted that Mahoney took a bad fall last week and was unable to walk very well because of it. However, she’s unsure if the events are related at this point.

A GoFundMe page was set up Wednesday morning to assist the family with funeral costs. The service will take place next week in New Jersey at O’Brien Funeral Home and fans are invited to attend.
