Reggie Miller Recalls Filming "Gang Related" With Tupac
« on: May 04, 2016, 06:46:08 PM »
Retired Indiana Pacers shooting guard Reggie Miller recalls filming a scene for the 1997 movie Gang Related with the late Tupac Shakur in an interview on The Dan Patrick Show. This after being asked if he ever met the rapper upon news of his mother, Afeni Shakur, passing.

"I played me as a hot dog vendor," Miller says of filming Gang Related. "It was during the first [NBA] lockout [in 1995]. I was supposed to have fallen on hard times, and I was a hot dog vendor. But it didn't make the movie."

Reggie revealed that the scene included comedic dialogue between himself, Tupac and Jim Belushi.

"It was pretty funny actually," he continues. "I can't believe it didn't make it."

Afeni passed over today (May 3) in her Sausalito, California home from cardiac arrest. The acclaimed civil rights activist was 69 and the reason behind her son's Platinum single, "Dear Mama."

That would have felt tonally a bit weird for that movie.  Probably why it didn't make the cut.

Lol... Word...  They always say pac was such a great actor but I thought all the acting in this film was pretty weak.... Might as well thrown Reggie in there for good measure... Least it would've been memorable

Oscar aspirations are neither here nor there.  Films have specific tones.  IMO, this one would not have benefited from such a goofy, left-field moment.  It might have worked in Gridlock'd though.
