I'm back after all these years...
« on: August 05, 2017, 07:04:51 AM »
What's crackin' everyone. I used to post here many years ago. Don't know if anyone will remember me, but I used to go by the name ImmortalOne aka Hellrazor! I remember a few cats from back then, like Euthanasia, West Coast Veteran, Jake, and some others. I also remember hosting a "Greatest Albums Ever Tournament" here back in like 2002 or something, with Doggystyle winning if I recall correctly. If anyone here remembers me, holla. It's good to be back  :)   I found this place looking for vintage west coast hip hop articles. Good to see it still exists.

And welcome back.

...that Greatest Albums Ever thing sounds interesting.  I don't remember that.  How did that work?

"I will make records as big or bigger than Death Row".   -Dre, Source 1996

"I didn't do nothing but make people money and I didn't leave nobody high and dry.  Any album (on death row) people are going to check for.  But it's time for Dre to worry about Dre.  I'm focused on the new Snoop Doggs, not like that but you know what I mean."

Dre -  Source 1996 cover

"Eminem will be bigger than Michael Jackson as long as he doesn't change."

-Dre, Rolling Stones mag 1999 Em cover

Everyone basically posted their top albums of all time, ranked in order, and the higher the album was ranked the more points it got. A certain number of points had to be achieved for an album to even make the tournament. I think a final tally of 64 albums was made, and they were divided up into 4 sections of 16 albums each. In each section, albums faced off against one another elimination style (in brackets setup similar to NBA playoffs), until there was a winner. The winner of each section went on to final 4, then down to the final two to determine the winner. It was pretty fun as I recall. Doggystyle won the entire thing.
