Snoop Dogg faces gun rap

Controversial rapper Snoop Dogg faces serious charges after police discovered guns on bodyguards escorting him to an awards show.

Officers swooped on the armoured convoy as it arrived at the Black Entertainment Television Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Snoop, 32, who has previously spent time in jail for drugs, could face charges if it is proved he was employing armed guards. He performed at the Kodak Theatre unaware that outside police had arrested 13 men.

The police impounded several weapons, bullet-proof vests and three vehicles, including an armoured truck.

So far Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, who is playing Huggy Bear in the film remake of Starsky & Hutch, has not been questioned or charged. But if he is found to have violated any law he could be put back in jail for up to 10 years. Three men have been charged and at least one bodyguard has been released without charge.

In April, Snoop narrowly escaped death when three men opened fire on his car in LA, injuring a bodyguard.

Hiring armed bodyguards is illegal? Now that's what I call fucked up... Unless they weren't proffessional, licensed bodyguards. I could understand this if they were just civilians. But why the hell would Snoop be charged? I really don't get the law sometimes...

And 10 years? 10 years my ass! If they press charges he'll probably have to pay some fine and be on probation for a while.

Where'd ya get this anyway?

10 years? What?? Hooot shittt...I doubt anything will happen, people ALWAYS get caught up on gun cases and mess, and if he wasn't carryin them they prolly won't get him no matter how hard they try.
Besides, it's too many other people makin money off Snoop that'll save him just like they did in 94-95

SNOOP DOGG could face charges following the arrests of three men who drove him to the BET AWARDS yesterday (June 24) in a grey-armoured van.

Two of the men, who were unarmed, were arrested by authorities outside of the Los Angeles Kodak Theatre for unidentified misdemeanour crimes. The third, also unarmed, was wanted on parole violations.

As reported on Billboard, Joe Gordon, assistant special agent in charge for the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said that six other armed men were detained by authorities and identified themselves as Snoop Dogg's security.

The rapper was not detained but Gordon said that charges would be presented to federal prosecutors that could involve him. Possible charges include associating with the armed men, which carries a penalty of up to ten years in a federal prison.

Snoop Dogg - real name Calvin Broadus - was convicted in 1990 of possession of cocaine for sale, and according to authorities it is illegal for a felon to possess weapons or hire armed security guards.

Snoop's attorney, Hayes Michel, was unavailable for comment

what do you expect when Snoop has an entourage of 30 people surrounding him and other people getting security to follow the Death Row entourage (which consisted of Suge Knight, Crooked I, Eastwood, Zab Judah, and 4 others) and limit them as to where they could go?
