Hip Hop History by Bez

You know hip hop and rap music has given me so much,
I wanna try and show the founding fathers some love,
This is the history,
The hip hop history,

What started off wit people freein, chillen on street corners,
Has left us wit death on our concience bullets tearin thru the street warriors,
Blood left on own hands simply because of our own stupidity,
If people cudda realised that it was all about the music then maybe many lives wudda been saved throughout the industry,
Lost so many great poets, so many hearts perished so rediculasly,
Just cos they had emotions and the balls to show it, this is the history,
Take you back to the 70's, people wit fro's and combs packed into derilict structures,
Injured black civil rights protestors on crutches there too, cos they too hip hop lovers,
New type of music been played throughout the air waves,
People spinnin on there heads in the street started a new hip hop craze,
Then graffiti started appearin on street walls like an art gallery,
Police judged it as vandalism, arrested anybody they caught sprayin, no doubt puttin more money in there salary,
Shit was gettin fucked slowly and black people still been beatin,
Police usin there authority for wack reasons, usin weapons so they cheatin,
But Dj's still scratchin the fuck outter records, police thought the shit was corrupt,
But theres no better feelin in the world when you playin and watch a crowd errupt,
Years startin passin black people started to stand up and believe,
That they could be anything in the world, that they could suceed,
80's came around quick, that was a period that was to change the game for eternity,
It was the era when rap music changed how we live, time white cops had an attourney,

(Chorusx2)  I gotta thank the history for makin the music,
Rap's been around for years and years to come cos people chose it,
So I gotta pay respect and thank the music thats been given,
Its 2003 and your dam right hip hop's still liven,
Its the hip hop history,

The beasties arrived on the scene first straight outter NYC,
3 white boys doin there hip hop thing for everybody to see,
Impressed everyone wit there attitude and Licensed to Ill,
So to them I show my gratitue everytime they grabbed the mic it was a thrill,
But suddently a group outter compton tour up the industry,
They let it be known to the world, they stood up and said I am a black man, police you can't fuck wit me,
Realesed Fuck Tha Police and preached about the life of 5 black youths,
Finally niggaz felt belief and the time was right to speak the truth,
N.W.A said it in yo face and said it real, this is me and my thoughts, this is me and how I feel,
Dre, Ren, Yella, Cube and Eazy changed the game for life, and we thankful to our graves,
Taught everyone to express themselves in hundreds and thousands of different ways,
But its a shame you all ain't here to see how your legacy lives on,
Eazy passed from aids, such a shame that the niggaz gone,
But your music still played no doubt, N.W.A set the standard for young artists,
Just like Hendrix did with young guitarists,
Then a group inspired me cos they appeared with such energy,
Told me to fight the power, yeah of course Public enemy,
Like N.W.A they taught me good, told me to not give a shit about the ghetto or hood,
Just believe in yourself and listen to the lyrics,
But first you gotta open up your parents ears and make them hear it,
Loads of different acts started formin, everyone had the same shit to say,
We sick of the same old music, its the 80's, time to change what we play,
Run DMC and aerosmith told me to walk this way,
But I stop and pray because in 2002 we lost Jam Master Jay,
We ain't learned from our past mistakes, thats its only music,
Yet bitches in the system take it personally instead of seein right through it,
R.I.P JMJ but thank you for the tunes you left us wit,
I guess you restin in a better place, in heaven away from dis shit,
Nowdays we got so many talents cats in the business makin money off there gift,
Yet we got so many dead artists that will be for ever missed,
But as long as we got something to remember them by,
The history has its own tears so I refuse to cry,
Its the hip hop history,

(Chorus)  I gotta thank the history for makin the music,
Rap's been around for years and years to come cos people chose it,
So I gotta pay respect and thank the music thats been given,
Its 2003 and your dam right hip hop's still liven,
Its the hip hop history,

Suddently we hit the 90's and everyone wanted to be the best,
We had a battle going on between the East and West,
2 friends going at it and the end result was tragic,
We lost two of the rap games best, both dropped like a bad habit,
94 came Nas dropped a classic wit Illmatic,
Still droppin dope shit to this day, niggas still at it,
96 came around and 2Pac kept goin strong at biggie,
September 13th 96, the world sheddin tears, such a pity,
Pac was taken from us, shot up in a drive by,
Then biggie a few months later, a revenge killin, I still ask why,
The tale was a long one that ended with a horrible violent chapter,
Blood stained streets filled the cities, no more childrens laughter,
And we still ain't forget em both, cos there deaths where a sign,
We could only hope and pray that the pain would go away wit time,
Pac still releasin shit and we all thankful for that,
Biggie dropped 3 classics and no doubt we thankful for that,
But we will never forget that fact that we lost 2 legends cause of stupidity,
But thank you two for the music you left us with in your history,
Nowdays shits better, we got plenty of new acts,
Dre dropped 2001 in 1999, no bullshit all facts,
People still strugglin but the struggle is worth while,
When you finally break through and into the world look at rabbit in 8 mile,
Just remember the history and be thankful for what we got,
Hip Hop's still liven and breathin strong it ain't ever gunna stop,
Come on,

(Chorusx4)  I gotta thank the history for makin the music,
Rap's been around for years and years to come cos people chose it,
So I gotta pay respect and thank the music thats been given,
Its 2003 and your dam right hip hop's still liven,
Its the hip hop history,

*We've lost so many talents down to our own dumbness.  We need to realise
thats it only music and we can't let more talents be taken.  Its all about
the music.  We should be thankful for what we've got but then again we should
be angry at what we have lost.  Me?, I like to be thankful for what we've got,
We've got the hip hop history.......Yeah!*
