Campaign Finance Reform

Has anyone heard about the democrats shooting themselves in the foot on this one?  Check this out, it's kinda funny.

A couple years ago, the democrats, around the time they lost the election (kind of, barely, I guess it's too late to change it now) to Bush, started bitching about Campaign Finance Reform.  They were bitching about 'soft money', which is basically donations to a political party for basically nothing, just to help them win.  They were saying that the republicans were getting too much money from rich republicans, which was making it unfair, since the candidate with the most money can advertise more, etc. and has a higher chance of winning the election.

Well, eventually, the senate pushed it through, and Bush signed it into action.

Later, they release campaign contribution figures for the election, and 92% of the million dollar or MORE contributions were to the democratic party, LOL.  Bush meanwhile got 60% of the donations that were 1000 dollars or less (which is what an average american would donate).

So basically, the dems thought that they'd cripple the republicans by taking away big money donations, but in actuality, the democratic party was the party receiving all the big fat cat paychecks.

So, now, as a direct result of their bullshitting, George Bush has raised 44 million dollars for his campaign re-election in only 2 months from small sized, ordinary citizen donations; while the 9 leading democratic candidates combined haven't raised that much since they started months ago; largely because they're no longer allowed to accept soft money contributions that they assumed the republicans were getting.

DOH!

Funny too, because that was because of Bill Clinton, who was the king of "soft" money. It wasn't so much a Democrat idea, as it was saying we don't support Bill Clinton no more. Life happens sometimes, how you get out of it though makes you a stronger person. We will see what happens.
