but i think jay-z is more quanity than quality...jay may have more but nas has better quality to his music.

Eye ear of the beholder, I guess.
And I guess we should have discussed what makes a "King" before discussing who is the King..

* Most powerful ? Connections ?
* Best C.E.O./businessman ?
* Best lyrical ?
* Better Albums ?
* Most connected, deep in the streets.. ?
* The best entertainer.. ?

The answer to each Q is different.. it all depends what the thread-starter means with "King"..

* Better Albums - Nas
* Most connected, deep in the streets.. - Jay (cuz of the empire)
* The best entertainer.. - 50 Cent

LOL How can 50 be the king of New York if he dont live and rep it? Thats like saying Bush rules the world.

THe "Kang" of New York is probably Jigga...I dont live there so i cant speak on it with full confidence, but seems like hes the biggest rap name, and has the most power in the city. Of course I think personally that nas is a better rapper. pZ

when it comes to king of ny its not about there clothing company an record lable.  its about the music an influece an air play.  if where goin take everything into account than puffy has had the city on lock down.  He has been a big name in the rap game for a longer time than jigga.  He has had his own company even b4 jay-z's name was relvelant in the rap game.  Sean Jean was out b4 rocawear.  His stuff gets mad airplay.  does that make him the king of new york???????

LOL... The Rappin' Soloist gots him

But on the real, it 2 thousand fuckin' 3, it's got to be Nas. Jigga is retiring. I think the King is the most respected rapper on the streets. Not really who's deep in the streets, who gots the most killaz on his side, or even who's most lyrical or gots the most cash. But the one artist in his city that when he speaks, the people listen. Like in the west, it's easy who the King is, Snoop. In L.A., Snoop is always on the radio, his well respected 'cause his been in the game 12 years now, since '91 with 213. People in L.A. see Snoop, and they love him. Most everyone hates Suge, and even middle age people follow Snoop's career. In N.Y., I don't know. I know 50 Cent ain't been out as long as Jigga or Nas though. But his street following is huge with his mix tapes, and street cred, and it's working for him. His 3 albums deep in his career, so his not just a rookie that popped up. But I think Nas was holding the crown after his wars with Jigga, as everyone I knew from N.Y. was on Nas's dick. Jigga was the king, easy, but it seemed that Nas took that from him without wanting it. But Biggie become King of N.Y. with one classic album. I think 50 needs one, and he can claim the throne. But until Nas drops it, it's his. Of course if Nas's next album don't sell, and 50 is still blowing, and we know Jigga is retiring, then I guess we can fully say 50 is the King. But until then, unless there's a battle, I think Nas gots his crown, though he doesn't really want it.

Oh yeah, those that say Biggie is still king, please get a life, and realize we are in a whole new millieum.
