LMAO...I own every respectable horror series all on DVD, and have watched them all numerous times buddy...Been a huge Freddy fan since birth, and always liked Michael and Jason as well...Saying the "Hellraiser" series is better than the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series is absolutely ridiculous, and an embarassment to any true horror/slasher fan..."Hellraiser" had 2 good movies, 1 alright movie, and 4 'Direct To Video' Movies which sucked ass and didn't make crap...But I understand you have your opinions, just don't tell me you know more than me, cause I've been studying this shit for a while now...PeACe
Looks like it's happening...John McNaughton is supposedly set to direct it.Serial Killer Helmer Heads to 'Elm Street' The other day Pit of Horror posted an interview with Robert Englund, who is best known as Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema's A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It's no secret that New Line has been working on a prequel to the films, which would tell the story behind the capture of the child-killer. Here at B-D we've known for quite sometime who would be directing the Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel, but we were sworn to secrecy-- so we can confirm that Icon's report that John McNaughton is in talks to helm the highly anticipated prequel! Robert tells Pit of Horror, "I will tell you that John ("Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer", "Wild Things") McNaughton is tapped to direct. I think it should go the "CSI" route and be sort of like a docu-drama that shows his crimes against the children. Then you cast two of the greatest character actors you can find to play the lawyers that get him off. Then of course it leads up to Freddy being burned alive."No word yet on when we'll see the film, assuming it gets off the ground. Right now let's focus on Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th. http://bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=6114&Template=newsfull
It sounds kool but i dunno if it will make any money.
I´m all for baby/children killing, so make that damn movie happen!I´d also like to see a new Evil Dead movie.. great! lol
I'd go see it. Plus, if they did it right, they could make it psychological... child murderers exist and everybody alive is terrified of them. That might actually be one of the best fears to base a movie on, I know it was a thread in all the others but like you said it wasn't ever focused on, if they do a prequel it could be good but I'd like to see them really flesh it out, not just make it scene after scene of Freddy killing people. Show him at parties with the neighbors, show him at work, show him talking with his wife or family (I don't think he was married, but dunno), then have scenes showing his dark nature and what he's done to these children, show him talking with neighbors about it "did you hear that Jenny's missing" etc. etc. really get deep and involved...The trouble is they'll be a tendency to make it all about Freddy, scary and crazy like we know him, but the original story suggested that he was a regular guy that got caught and killed doing this shit, then came back more twisted and demented like we know him now... if they treated it more like a stand-alone and made it a movie with a solid plot about a normal guy who was a child murderer and gets killed by the neighborhood at the end, it would be an EXCELLENT addition to the series.
There must have also been 1 kid who 'brought him down' and was the reason all the families found out... so they could spend a considerable amount of the movie with that kid's story too. Or even better, have that kid actually get killed at the end before they do Freddy in... so you'd get attached to the kid and wonder the whole movie if Freddy would get him (or her) too,... then after the whole movie, he finally does kill her like you knew he was going to do then they get to the end scenes where the familes come together to burn him
