i think now_i_know needs to let his freddy vs jason boner fade away sumtime.....jesus fuckin christ.....good movie....most everybody liked it.......now quit humpin robert englunds leg...great actor?????LMAO!!!!!....if he was such an actor then he would be offered great rolls, not like he's struggling for exposure, everybody and their mom knows the guy, its the fact that he cant act his way out of a paper sack......

and u really need to quit flippin out on the people who say they think the movie looks gay........c'mon, they had a fuckin weigh in for fucks sake.....they played the movie off like a big joke and got lucky due to the fact that the idea has been on the table for 15 sum odd years and everyone wanted to see what the big wait was for.....lety people express they opinion and quit defendin the movie like its ur show and tell piece from kindergarden......

I'm just the most knowledgable about anything to do with slasher films on this board

Not to take your shine away or anything but i've been watching horrors for 18+ years and i'd say i'm also one of the most knowledgable ppl on this board when it comes to horrors.

 ;)

Oh and IMO the Hellraiser Series is better than ANOES.

LMAO...I own every respectable horror series all on DVD, and have watched them all numerous times buddy...Been a huge Freddy fan since birth, and always liked Michael and Jason as well...Saying the "Hellraiser" series is better than the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series is absolutely ridiculous, and an embarassment to any true horror/slasher fan..."Hellraiser" had 2 good movies, 1 alright movie, and 4 'Direct To Video' Movies which sucked ass and didn't make crap...But I understand you have your opinions, just don't tell me you know more than me, cause I've been studying this shit for a while now...PeACe

Firstly i never said i know more than you, i said "i'm also one of the most knowledgable" when it comes to horrors as in i could hold my own with you and other horror fans.  ;)

Secondly i have seen shit load of horrors including all the 60s and 70s crap and LOADS of Jap and european horrors.

As for Hellraiser, yeh its opinion but i will admit im biased coz im a massive clive Barker fan and met him years ago. (he's one cool guy)

Freddy 1 was classic but they dropped drasticaly with every sequel and become more comedy. I love Hellraisers coz they have remained dark and stayed adult instead of catering to the young teen market like most of Wes Cravens movies have. As for the sequels they have been amazing apart from hellraiser 3 which was quite average, with 5 and 6 being suprisingly very good.

Watched all Jason movies but apart from part 1 i think the others are wak and the same goes with Halloween, apart from the first 2 the rest are wak.

Good news is Clive Barker is making his return to horror and is working on a few including a "Lord of Illusions" sequel which should be cool.

Laterz and its cool to see another Horror fan out there.

PS at this moment in time i think the Japs are running things when it comes to horror, theres are original and all out gore and story.

Looks like it's happening...John McNaughton is supposedly set to direct it.

Serial Killer Helmer Heads to 'Elm Street'

The other day Pit of Horror posted an interview with Robert Englund, who is best known as Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema's A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It's no secret that New Line has been working on a prequel to the films, which would tell the story behind the capture of the child-killer. Here at B-D we've known for quite sometime who would be directing the Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel, but we were sworn to secrecy-- so we can confirm that Icon's report that John McNaughton is in talks to helm the highly anticipated prequel!

Robert tells Pit of Horror, "I will tell you that John ("Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer", "Wild Things") McNaughton is tapped to direct. I think it should go the "CSI" route and be sort of like a docu-drama that shows his crimes against the children. Then you cast two of the greatest character actors you can find to play the lawyers that get him off. Then of course it leads up to Freddy being burned alive."

No word yet on when we'll see the film, assuming it gets off the ground. Right now let's focus on Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th.

Damn this thread is almost 3 years old  :D

Imagine a Nightmare movie as shocking as the first Henry, John will do fine directing this one I think...

Oh and everybody bragging in this thread about being a horror movie specialist... Well don't count ME out cause I've seen alot of shit and I'm not just talking about your average mainstream US horror movie here...

No doubt that it will...The "Nightmare On Elm Street" franchise already has a huge fan-base, and horror is making big bux nowadays...I'd be extremely surprised if this flopped...

I'd go see it.  Plus, if they did it right, they could make it psychological... child murderers exist and everybody alive is terrified of them.  That might actually be one of the best fears to base a movie on, I know it was a thread in all the others but like you said it wasn't ever focused on, if they do a prequel it could be good but I'd like to see them really flesh it out, not just make it scene after scene of Freddy killing people.  Show him at parties with the neighbors, show him at work, show him talking with his wife or family (I don't think he was married, but dunno), then have scenes showing his dark nature and what he's done to these children, show him talking with neighbors about it "did you hear that Jenny's missing" etc. etc. really get deep and involved...

The trouble is they'll be a tendency to make it all about Freddy, scary and crazy like we know him, but the original story suggested that he was a regular guy that got caught and killed doing this shit, then came back more twisted and demented like we know him now... if they treated it more like a stand-alone and made it a movie with a solid plot about a normal guy who was a child murderer and gets killed by the neighborhood at the end, it would be an EXCELLENT addition to the series.

Funny that you mention it, an "Evil Dead 4" AND an "Evil Dead" remake is supposed to be coming out in the near future...VV

Actually, they're going the route you mentioned...It's supposed to be a lot more serious and psychological, almost like a stand-alone film, like you said. Freddy DID have a wife. Also, he had a daughter. He was hiding his secret life from them. There's a lot of back-story they never went into great detail about, which is why this film has the potential to be great...PeACe

There must have also been 1 kid who 'brought him down' and was the reason all the families found out... so they could spend a considerable amount of the movie with that kid's story too.  Or even better, have that kid actually get killed at the end before they do Freddy in... so you'd get attached to the kid and wonder the whole movie if Freddy would get him (or her) too,... then after the whole movie, he finally does kill her like you knew he was going to do then they get to the end scenes where the familes come together to burn him

Yea, the trial is gunna play an important part too...They're gunna go into detail about it and try to capture the fury in Springwood from the courts letting him off. Then that follows up to the parents hunting him down and taking matters into their own hands...There's just so much you can do with this... if it's anything short of a really good film, I'll be disappointed.
