Toss It Up produced by Dr Dre?
« on: September 15, 2003, 08:46:04 AM »
Toss It Up was by Danny Boy and Jodeci. Pac just got on the track..... Dre did the beat for Blackstreets "No Diggity" while he was still at Death Row. Dre sold it to Teddy Riley. Which is why the beginning of those songs where almost exactly the same.

Also why Pac's ranting on about "you know whose beat this is - yeah we took y'all beat" at the end.

And why Pac assembled his own "all-star" line up of R&B heads for the track. It's not a coincidence that Aaron Hall was on that track ;)

Dre * didnt * produce the blackstreet track, he just rapped on it. Teddy Riley produced the song.

Popular misconception ;)

Shit, thats weird, i could've sworn on the cover of the single it says Dre produced it, i'll have a look around & see if I still have it around. Not doubting you 'seer, its probably a miss print if it is on there

Probably says "featuring".. the producer rarely gets a mention on the cover..

Well, The outlaws say in the new XXL that Toss it Up is their least favourite song on  Makeveli cuz it was a song Dre had already produced while still on Deathrow, and the cut featured Danny Boy and Jodeci only.  They say when Dre left e sold the beat to Teddy Riley, and then featured on the song.   So who knows if Dre actually produced No Diggity or not...

Nah, it was on the back of it, you know how on the old cardboard singles they had credits at the back of the cover

Weird.. well orginally I thought for a long time that Dre produced it, but I noticed he hadnt in the liner notes of the album itself, so I know i'm right, because I know I was wrong :)

oh and I could be wrong here, but i'm pretty sure Teddy Riley has commented on the issue, and it seems Dre might have tried to take some credit for it or something, i've definitely read something like that.
