Maybe America should mind their own business.
Yep, it's a crying shame when we want to give out scholarships.

In a way we did start this whole thing.  However I agree with Trauma and Engel that this situation has just gotten way out of control.

I think we should do three things (in this order):

1) Force leaders of Israel and Palestinian leaders into actual peace talks (The stuff tried before was bullshit).

2) If peace talks don't work, send troops into Israel to try and maintain some order.

3) Finally, if both options fail and many more Americans are killed, we should do one of two things:
1. Bomb the living shit out of the country (which will prolly never happen)
OR
2. Simply leave, and from that point on, do absolutely NOTHING to help resolve the problem, and let the Israeli's and Palestinians resolve it themselves.

Well said.

The best thing the us could do is stay out of it, unless they are going to be objective, in which case they are very welcome to help in this conflict. You cant be a peacemaker while supplying one side with arms and constantly taking their side.

Its a pity that some people see this as "us against them" but really this war has nothing to do with america. I admire the states for trying to help out, but a good referee never has allegences to a certain side.

What i feel strongly about is statements like "bomb the fuck outta the palestinians". Sure, the terrorists should be punisshed, but not the palestinians. After the oklahoma bomb noone said "bomb the fuck outta oklahoma" did they? Stay focused people. Your thinking exactly how the terrorists wanted u to think with this attack.

Maybe America should mind their own business.

See, this is the problem with young minds.  Young minds think that problems just go away.  Young minds think that people can always be appeased, we can get along with anybody, and everybody.

A wise mind knows that you can't please everybody.  As a matter of fact, there are some people, that you can never please, because they hate your existance.  Most of these terrorists hate our existance.

Liberals say, and feel, that we should just 'stay away'!!! from trouble in the middle east, as if we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone.  Fuck that.  We've been ignoring terrorism for decades, and it culminated in what happened Sept. 11th, a terrorist attack that liberals STILL want to ignore.  Fuck this, terrorists need to die, there is no rationality behind their actions, they cannot be appeased, and ignoring them just makes the matter worse.  We need to actively hunt these assholes down wherever they are in the world, because unfortunately, it's still true: the only way to achieve peace is through victory.  Parents don't raise good kids because they ignore them, or let them do whatever they want.  Parents raise good kids because they whip their ass whenever they do something irrational.  We need to go whip some terrorist ass.

For proof of my theory: We've been actively hunting terrorists since Sept. 11th, and haven't had a problem since.  Liberals unfortunately are still living in La-La land and think that the problem has dissapeared.  It's not dissapeared, we're just whipping it's ass.  We need to up up the ante, and overthrow the palestine government, fuck it, I could care less what others think on it, that's my opinion.

OH, and as for Palestine & Israel resolving the problem themselves, are you crazy?  How long have they been fighting over there?  They're both fucking incompetant at anything, any army that has as a strategy to kill yourself while you kills others has a shitty war strategy, that's all I've got to say.  What a bunch of fucking losers.

During the 1920s the US and Britain had oil fields in the Middle East after its discovery a few years before. After World War II, OPEC raised the price of oil from $3 to $22 per barrel. That's why Abdel Karim Qassim (Iraqi leader before Saddam) placed all oil fields under the government's control. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger even publicly stated that "Middle East oil is much too important a commodity to be left in the hands of the Arabs" (That line alone explains the whole Middle East conflict, and why we're there)The CIA attempted several times to assassinate him, but remained unsuccessful, until they found their man, Saddam Hussein. In a coup, Saddam took over the country, and was in full control by 1968. Under CIA direction, he killed Communists and radicals. We provided Saddam with weapons, including chemicals. Similar thing was going on in Iran, where we replaced the ruler who wanted to place all oil under government control, with the Shah. We assisted the Shah with $22 billion between 1972-1976 in weaponry alone. When Iraq went to war with Iran, 55 countries were providing them with resources, 29 of which were assisting both countries. That included the U.S., who claimed that it was assisting neither country. Again, we were playing the double standard to boost our arms industry. After the war with Iran, Iraq was $40 billion in debt. The country was pretty much devastated. At the time there was a limit placed on the amount of oil that each OPEC country could produce. And Kuwait was producing 20% more than it was allowed to, which brought oil prices around the world down, and made the Western world very happy. But, by Kuwait doing that, Iraq lost one-third of its income, at a time it needed it most. Now this is were things got messy. The US continously, publicly claimed that it had no defense of Kuwait. They let Saddam know that they were not backing Kuwait. Saddam fell for the trap and invaded Kuwait. Before Saddam invaded however, according to Gulf War veterans, the US military was already preparing for a fight against Iraq. They were already carrying out routines in the desert, and informed the soldiers that they were most likely gonna fight Iraq. In addition, the US claimed that Iraq sent almost its entire army to Kuwait, which was complete bullshit. The US then went to Saudi Arabia and convinced them with more bullshit that Iraq was planning to invade Saudi Arabia. The US wanted the Saudis to let them into their country, for reasons that Kissinger explained many years before: OIL IS TOO DAMN IMPORTANT TO BE IN THE HANDS OF ARABS. We convinced the Saudis that they were going to be under attack. We told them that Saddam had soldiers lined up at the border, but satellite pictures proved otherwise. Satellite photos showed that there were minimal troops (which were always there) along the Saudi/Iraqi border. In fact, most Iraqi troops were to the north, and the majority of the rest were in Baghdad alongside the Republican Guard. Then we bombed the shit out of Iraq. The US military claimed that it was pin-pointing on only military facilities and such. That claim was false. The US bombed reservoires, destroyed their access to clean water, bombed electrical companies, generators, phone companies, food processing plants, and basically anything that was necessary for the survival of people. Children were dying all across the country. Pinpoint? Yeah right. Now comes another catch. People start gathering together and plan a rebellious movement to overthrow Saddam and the Iraqi government. As soon as that happens George Bush calls for an immediate end to the war. General Schwarzkopf informs Bush that in another two days they can gain control of Baghdad and get rid of Saddam and his regime. Bush stays with his decision and wants an end to the war. He ordered US troops out, giving Saddam a chance to crush the rebellion. And that was that.

BTW... guess who had exclusive rights to offshore oil in the Gulf at that time? George W Bush... so daddy was making his crackbaby a lil money.

*About 250,000 Iraqis were killed; 100,000 of which were civilians, half of those being children
*We didn't rebuild what we destroyed, and due to our sanctions placed on them, we didn't give them  the chance to do so either
*In the 8 years since the end of the war, 1,500,000 Iraqis have died as a direct result of US/UN sanctions; half of those are kids under the age of 5 :-\
*100-200 kept dying daily
*We used 500 tons of depleted uranium bombs and artillery shells. The radioactive dust caused birth defects and cancer to soar

What right did we have? Why did we do all this? Kissinger seemed to have the answer: OIL IS TOO DAMN IMPORTANT TO BE IN THE HANDS OF THE ARABS

Sad, sad shit, and now we're there again... I guess all the oil is worth fucking the country up to a greater extent and rebuilding it after....

Engel I said the US is in the Middle East for oil; I didn't specify Palestine, so keep your comments on point.

Parents dont raise good children by whipping their ass, and anyway who made you the parent of the world, whose sole job is to discipline everyone else. Shouldnt someone be allowed discipline you? Why is it that the us will only give aid to countrys if they refuse to sign up to the international criminal court, which states americans can be prosecuted. Sounds like these misguided abusive parents dont like when other parents question their methods.

I have no doubt terrorists should be chased down. However you say "there is no talking to them", they should be hunted down and killed because they hate your existence. But you hate their existence, so they can use the exact same aargument.

"We've been ignoring terrorism for decades" - damn right. The rest of the world has been dealing with terrorism for decades rather successfully, but all of a sudden america gets hit and its like a new word in their vocabulary and they know everything about it. Since the US has started its "war on terror" it seems we hear about war and terror every day, bombs in bali in riyadh, attempted hijackings of planes etc etc. It appears by "whipping their ass" you're simply whipping them up into a frenzy.

As for killing yourself as a tactic (while horrific in its effect on civilians), guerilla warfare is the only way to fight a huge army. The irish were the first to use it to get rid of the brits, who had a full army, and it worked very effectively. Not saying its right, but it is not as you say a stupid policy. How long would the terrorists last if they fought the us on a battlefield??? Not long.

Palestinians have to live with the control of almost every part of their lives, there are controls of freedom of movement, road blocks, curfews. Without notice they can be locked inside their homes. Ambulances are denied access. Children are stopped from going to school. Life is similar to apartheid South Africa. Israel has all the power, Palestine has no power.

Israel builds illegal settlements on palestinian land, they are part of a network of armed colonies that control around 42% of the West Bank. Roads are bulit that only jewish settlers and soldiers can use. They control the water, palestinians frequently run out of water while the settlements dont. Israel is turning palestine into one big prison surrounded by tanks, walls and fences.

Innocent people's homes are demolished and the land taken for settlements, similar to  land being taken in apartheid South Africa. Schools, offices, clinics, theatres, radio stations have been destroyed. The Culture Ministry was destroyed.  Israeli soldiers
smeared their own excrement on the walls and on office equipment. They vandalised an exhibition of paintings made by Palestinian children.

Only Palestinians are described as terrorists, but the Israelies are as much terrorists as are the palestinians. Former Israel Prime Minister Menachem Begin was commander of the terrorist group that blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem in 1946, killing 96 people. He described it as"a splendid act of conquest". Former Prime Minister Yitzak Shamir was leader of terrorist group the Stern Gang which carried out assassinations.

Palestinians do not have Israel's huge military machine, they do not have tanks, planes gun ships, missiles or weapons of mass destruction. If your oppressor fights with fire, you have to fight with fire. Suicide bombings happen due to the despair by powerless people against an oppressor armed with modern weapons. Suicide Bombings will stop when the Palestinians are no longer oppressed, it is up to Israel to stop this, they have all the power, but peace is not in the Israel governments interests.

The people of the world and decent Israelies that want peace, have to stand up to the Israeli government.

I was making a statement on why we're in the Middle East to begin with. If you can't make the connection, then that's your stupidity, not mine. Let me break it down for you Einstein,...

We want the oil--- to get that oil we need more control of the area--- we do that by extending our influence there---

Too bad it's America fucking up the rest of the world... Bush has successfully ruined what past presidents have worked so hard at accomplishing, and he managed to make America the most loved country into the most hated one... after 9/11 the entire world had sympathy for us... now they realize that our government is just after its own self-interests... if its in our best interests for a country to have a dictator, then that country will have one... if its in our best interests to get rid of that dictator then we will get rid of him... we don't give a fuck about the people, it's all about the money.... and like every great empire in the past, we're self-destructing ourselves... look at the economy...

Look at the economy? Sure thing. I know it's hard, but you need to try to stop talking out of your ass about things you don't know anything about. Just because you hear people preaching doom and gloom on CNN dosen't mean you have to belive them.

Jobless Claims Fall, Inflation Stays Low
Thu October 16, 2003 09:12 AM ET

By Anna Willard
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. jobs market is showing signs of improvement and inflation remains low in the economy outside the energy sector, government reports on Thursday said.

The number of Americans filing an initial claim for jobless benefits fell last week to the lowest level since early February, the Labor Department said, a hopeful sign for job seekers.

Underlying inflation, stripping out volatile food and energy costs rose 0.1 percent in September, in line with expectations. Over the last 12 months, the core CPI has risen just 1.2 percent, the smallest increase since February 1966, the department said.

"By and large these numbers so far today show a strong economy," said Pierre Ellis, senior international economist at Decision Economics.

First-time filings for state unemployment aid fell 4,000 last week to 384,000 from the previous week. The number was broadly in line with analysts' expectations that claims would be 388,000.

"The jobless numbers were certainly encouraging. We got a decline and it suggests that the labor market is recovering," said Parul Jain, Nomura Securities International.

It was the second week in a row that claims came in under 400,000. Economists say claims above 400,000 suggest a deteriorating jobs market.

The drop also brought a decline in the closely watched four-week moving average of initial filings, seen as more reliable because it irons out weekly fluctuations.

The department said the average fell 4,250 to 390,750, also the lowest since early February.

While the report suggested layoffs are slowing, it also showed unemployed workers are still having a tough time finding new jobs. For the week ended Oct. 4, the number of Americans claiming benefits after filing an initial claim climbed 58,000 to 3.67 million.

The labor market has lagged other areas of the economy. But recent reports have been encouraging for job seekers. In September, the economy created 57,000 new jobs, the first increase in eight months.

INFLATION AS EXPECTED

Analysts said the inflation report was consistent with expectations and recent reports indicating inflation is low.

"Underlying inflation has clearly stabilized. Meanwhile concerns that inflation will decelerate much further are eased by the fact that some service prices continue to rise quite sturdily," said Ellis.

The overall Consumer Price Index, the most widely used gauge of U.S. inflation, rose 0.3 percent in September, just above analysts' forecasts for a 0.2 percent climb.

Helping to boost the overall number was a 6.3 percent increase in gasoline prices, the fastest pace since a 9.9 percent jump in February. Energy costs were up 3.0 percent.

Among the core rate, clothing prices rose 0.5 percent in September, the largest increase in over a year. But new car prices fell 0.4 percent, the largest drop since the beginning of the year, and airline fares sank 1.8 percent.

A separate report from the Commerce Department showed companies continue to pare inventories. Stocks at U.S. businesses in August dropped a larger-then-expected 0.4 percent, reflecting a large drop in automobile stocks.
